For some reason I'm picturing the the pottery scene from the movie "Ghost".
If so, my MIL is gonna help us paint, so that kind of painting is outta the question.
Painting as a couple can be stressful.
I know a couple who will only paint together if both are naked. They just tape newspaper over the windows and... get busy.
It certainly does relieve tension.

I've never painted alone or as a couple, but again, MIL is helping, so nekked is not an option. Really.
I know it sounds wimpy but we use plastic gloves when we paint. It's a tremendous help when you need to help the kids quick and your hands are full of paint. You just peel them off and do what you have to do.
Another thing we do is line our roller pan with tin foil. It's kinda like the liners you can get at the paint store but a lot cheaper. If one roll isn't wide enough, we put two pieces together and "seal" them with masking tape where they meet. Again, it makes for a really easy clean up.
Mal, Drink while you paint - just don't drink the paint. It'll make it bearable. PLus, you'll have fun designs to look forward to when you sober up.

And Benjamin Moore paint is WAY worth the price, it's creamy one-coat perfect!!
Benny Moore is total crap for the price you pay. $30+ a gallon should never cost you that much. When they only pay about 5 or 6 dollars for that gallon of paint.

Paint the ceiling first. That's the messiest. get one of those pole thingies to screw into your roller (if you have a mop that the handle screws into the mop head that should work) If you don't paint the ceiling TRUST ME it'll look like crap against freshly painted walls.
Don't roll all the way up to the ceiling when doing the walls - leave about 2" and then brush it to cut it into the ceiling - using one of those painters straight edge plastic thingies helps tremendously. Also since you're doing
NEVER USE MASKING TAPE - use the blue painters tape and IT'S WORTH THE TIME. Just be sure to remove it after the paint dries a little but isn't completely dry.
DAMNIT - I'm getting in the mood to paint again but no energy
Blue Tape is only if your gonna leave the tape up there for more then a couple days.
3M now makes a great tape that is a FRACTION of the price ( about 3 dollars, compared to about the 8 or 9 dollars your gonna spend on Blue tape) It is a 5 day tape.
If you can't find that, use the green tape, its cheaper then the Blue and will work better for what your doing.
