I really don't like it at all. And I know alot of people are going to disagree with me for one because it says newbe under my name. but thats what makes it a discussion area. Ok he wants to take the summer off. sure he deserves it but guess what if it werent for us, his faith full he would have never made it through his 30 some years without a number one. Yes I agree he does deserve it but I think we deserve a summer tour since I was 16 I have been going to buffett shows every summer. And yes I remember 2001 when he took the summer off but guess what? I went to a couple of cold shows that year and it was not the same. I really hope this is some kind of joke. I lost count after twenty shows and hope to continue this summer ritual for years to come and some day take my kids to a show. Blondestranger13

your right about one thing, i disagree. sure no one likes the news, but think about it. how would you like to work, work, work, and never get a summer off. I don't think you would. None of us are gonna die, we will still be here for the rest of the shows. I mean the man just wants to spend time with his kids. Would have like it if you didn't get to see your father as much as most people. Just take a chill pill, there are gonna be plenty of shows. And sorry just cause it might be cold. I would see jimmy in rain, hail, sleet, snow, sunburning conditions and be happy.

whats a summer
I am a head chef in a country club that sunny day in pittsburgh is my whole summer
I noticed some folks said they really hoped Buffett didn't read the board in regards to my "Buffett: Boxers or Briefs?" poll which was done clearly in jest. In my opinion the amount of ungratefulness I'm seeing showered upon him as of late just because he'd like to take the summer off is far more embarassing. Damn, it's not like he's said he's not going to tour at all. I can only imagine the backlash if that were the case. For those that have been fortunate enough to see him over the years, I'd consider that it a blessing and leave it at that. Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case though.

this might not be the best argument to use..finupbarefootchildren wrote:your right about one thing, i disagree. sure no one likes the news, but think about it. how would you like to work, work, work, and never get a summer off. He took almost the entire summer off last year. Look at the 2005 tour dates - there was a two month gap from 6/22 to 8/21 last summer (with the exception of the Long Island charity show). How do you know that's not the kind of break he's referring to?
Edit:
Just about all of us on this board bust our a$$es in the summer just like we do in all other seasons. What does that have to do with you deserving a show?

Dittos to all of the above.LIPH wrote:I think people need to get a grip. Jimmy Buffett doesn't owe us anything, other than the best show he can give us on concert day. We don't deserve anything from him. And in a sure sign that the apocalypse is upon us, I agree with everything Jah said.
Come on, the guys has played tours for us for 30+ years. How many other acts have toured just a few years then hung it up, never to be seen again?
At this point, any shows he cares to do are just icing on the cake, and wherever/whenever they are, I'll be there if at all possible.
The fact that he's taking the time to be with his kids just increases my appreciation for his priorities.
Yes, he's rich, and yes, it's because we bought his stuff, but... I've gotten more than my money's worth. If he sailed off into the sunset, I'd be sad, but couldn't blame him one bit.

I understand Buffett has read the boards and killed off his family. He can now spend the summer with the "fans". He is very sorry he put his family first and vowed it will never ever happen again. He also understands we deserve him. He also will admit in public that Fingers Taylor should come back because it was posted here. In addition, he will play 350 show, 2x each venue in order all the "fans'" will have a chance to see him. He added we can now sit back and enjoy his shows so we can focus our energy on protecting our privacy from companies selling our info to third party organizations. He also said LIPH must rub Heather's feet during intermission. OOps. He meant Utly's feet.
See. He is a swell guy.
