margaritaville on Turks/Cacos
Just heard they are building a Margaritaville at the Carnival Cruise Pier on Turks/Cacos....We are all familiar with JB's feeling about cruise ships and thier effect on the islands. Seems a little hypocritical that he is building a Margaritaville on the Carnival Cruise Pier....No?? What do you guys think.

Kind of follows with the one on Cayman. According to APLA50, that's not his favorite spot...too commercialized, touristy, not islandy enough, etc. Sounds similar. But, I suppose it's about taking the business where the people are as opposed to just putting the business where he'd prefer to be.hawkeye315 wrote:Just heard they are building a Margaritaville at the Carnival Cruise Pier on Turks/Cacos....We are all familiar with JB's feeling about cruise ships and thier effect on the islands. Seems that it's the proverbial Catch 22.
Create a commercial establishment where you love it because there is no commercialism there-you become part of the problem.
Add a commercial entity where there is already a ton of crass commercialism that feeds on and perpetuates itself to take advantage of it while you advocate the laid back island life-hypocrite or entrepenuer?
Taking advantage of the commercialism and then working on and donating to projects such as Save the Manatees and other environmental issues with your profits-Jimmy

Thats the case with most cruise ship ports. But, a lot of passengers get off those ships everyday. Ocho Rios is just outside the cruise terminal. Montego Bay is a taxi ride away. I've been to both and there were many other passengers there, who I have no doubt, had no idea who Jimmy Buffett is. They were there spending their money, just like me.

It usually is a case of too much tequila or not quite enough when down on the south side of Mouseville.Quiet and Shy wrote:Rumors or "semi-true stories"?RinglingRingling wrote:I've heard rumours of an M'ville in Orlando..ToplessRideFL wrote:There is a M-ville in Orlando!!!! Is this a new and improved web site for the Caribbean (Jamaican) Margaritavilles?
I don't think I have ever noticed the Marguerites.
http://www.margaritavillecaribbean.com/locations.php
Opened in November 1995, Marguerites has since established itself as the North Coast’s finest seafood restaurant. Originally built in the fifties and formerly owned by a succession of expatriates including a US senator, the restaurant has been transformed by Jamaican co-owners Brian Jardim and Ian Dear into an elegant and sophisticated water’s edge bistro, specializing in fresh, creatively prepared seafood.

let's say the threads of the story do have a high tensile strength compared to the weight of the disbelief..phjrsaunt wrote:You either believe them, or notRinglingRingling wrote:It usually is a case of too much tequila or not quite enough when down on the south side of Mouseville.Quiet and Shy wrote:Rumors or "semi-true stories"?RinglingRingling wrote:I've heard rumours of an M'ville in Orlando..ToplessRideFL wrote:There is a M-ville in Orlando!!!! Good question. Have been thru the Jamaican site once or twice as part of the Store specials. Never read the text with it.conched wrote:Is this a new and improved web site for the Caribbean (Jamaican) Margaritavilles?
