Jimmy should say whatever the hell he feels like saying. If it p*** people off, then c'est la vie.
Unlike that loudmouth from the Dixie Chicks who ruined her career by doing just that
I think she just pointed out how ridiculous some of us are, and their reaction proved her point. Life goes on.

The point is...the JB Discussion section is supposed to be about Jimmy, not about
your political views.

His response was along the lines of "I was raised a democrat and I'll always be a deomcrat." There was no mention as to whether that influence came from the politics of Mobile, Alabama (where he grew up), his family, etc. And more recently, he said he'd campaign in '06 for two people who are running for office. I believe one is a US Senator who he sees as a "good moderate voice in Congress."
I'm glad he's wise enough to keep politics out of his shows...regardless of his views.
Hi Alison,
I really don't know that much about Jimmy's early life( I'm sure that there are people who can quote chapter and verse about it) but I can identify with Jimmy's statement about "being raised a democrat and he will always be a democrat" because that is exactly the way I feel. That probably has to do with being first generation "MONEY". I am the product of very working class people and even if I had wealth( which I don't)

I would still carry forward the values of my formative years.
If you look at the people who tend to be Republican from early on, their parents probably were also of the same cloth and the same goes for Democrats. IMHO being a Democrat today has become a stigma and the term liberal a reason for being attacked. I personally am happy that Jimmy and I also share political beliefs and well as his music and lifestyle choices.
And once again I've bucked the system. Raised in 1 party and made up my own mind to register with the other.

Yeah, and one is musician Kinky Friedman, running for governor of Texas--actually, he's running as an independent "a pox on both their houses"....and is getting widespread support...right to left---hope he gets the signatures to get on the ballot so Jimmy can campaign for him...this should be a real fun campaign to watch!!!!!

If he got on the ballot, I'd take a weekend and go down to help with the campaign too.

I missed it too, but he was on Leno a couple of nites ago--I could see why the head parrot likes him
Question: In order to get on the ballot, Kinky has to get something like 50,000 petition signatures, and only people who havent voted in the primary can sign...this is one of the toughest hurdles in the election for Kinky...wonder if Jimmy would ask his Texas fans to give the primary a pass, so they can then sign for Kinky??
Wonder if anyone has asked him to?
Wonder if any of his people read this board?

Kinky's or Jimmy's...?
I don't know how long they've been buds, but Kinky gave ASPOL a very nice review in the NYT when it came out.
