He's WISE because he never turns any of his concerts into political rallys.
He's WISE because he knows what his fans want and he GIVES it to them.
I really couldn't care less WHO he ends up VOTING for-just give me a great concert when I attend. So far he's done that every time.
I pay to hear him sing, not preach politics. I wish a few other "entertainers" were like that.
BTW-yes, I do vote Republican, however, I'd be more than a little upset if I DID go to a political gathering and President Bush, Senator Grassley, or whoever showed up and sang "Margaritaville."

His political affiliation doesn't surprise me one bit. Entertainers tend to be Democrat anyway. Plus, as active as he is with environmental issues, the manatees and such, that's definitely not a Republican stance.
*shrug* It doesn't matter either way to me, as others have said, as long as the politics don't get in the way of the entertainment, he could be Communist and I wouldn't care...

I would advise the mods to wipe this thread out right now before it's too late. Political discussions ruined the whole Church of Buffett Orthidox site. It got really ugly. There is just no way to win with keeping this dicussion alive, trust me it's just a matter of time till people get p*** off.

How often does anyone take someone from Iowa seriously?

the times I have seen Jimmy endorse a candidate. . his public speaking part is minimal . .and his message comes across as support for a friend . .
nothing political about it . . then he sings. . and offers his " contribution " that way . .
the rallies he has done here bring a ton of peeps out . . perhaps just to see/hear him . . but public exposure for his candidate, none the less. .

Or people could avoid the thread, if they don't like to discuss politics.

He is active with environment issues and it is not a Republican stance. I am curious though, does the attention and activism of environmental causes, bother (Republican) folks here? If you are one, who dismisses/disagrees with environmental causes, does Jimmy at least make you inclined to view it in a non partisan way, but in a very tangible, worthwhile way? In other words, does it make you view as something with merit and not as the cartoonish Greenpeace person/tree hugger etc. Just curious.

I hope I'm not unusual in that I try to consider whether I think any particular cause deserves my attention and efforts without regard to whether it's a "Republican" cause or a "Democratic" cause.
'Course, that may be why I'm a registered Independent with libertarian leanings.

I'd love for Buffett to start being more vocal about his political leanings at his concerts. He's got a large audience he could reach by doing so. Perhaps a Buffett/Dylan/Steve Earle triple bill is in the offing for the next U.S. election.

Dennis Miller once said 'if you are young and republican you dont have a heart, and if you are older and a democrat, you dont have a real job'. I laughed because no one is right in politics or religion, there is no "answer" either way. I am republican on economic views and democrat on rights and environmental issues, I guess that makes me either Independant or confused
I am glad Jimmy doesnt give his opinions, whether I agree or not with them. However the money that goes to SFC and other charities he supports causes that any side can believe in.
The only real truth is that Alpine is the best venue and tailgating (and now I will duck and get out of the way)
