UPDATE! Amy Lee and T.C. Mitchell added to lineup!
What is Phins To The West? PTTW is a Regional Parrot Head event that brings together Parrot Heads from all areas of the country to enjoy a week-end of phun and entertainment.
When and where is the event held? The 2006 3rd annual event is being held on 5-7 May, 2006 in Laughlin, Nevada, 80 miles south of Las Vegas.
What makes PTTW different from other Parrot Head events? PTTW was created to be an event that could be hosted by any Parrot Head Club willing to be a partner. Partnering Clubs are the hosts of the event and the intent is to have an event that is owned by no one organization. The event was based on providing a quality week-end for a minimal price. The goal is to offer a "High Value for the Dollar"!
How does PTTW achieve the goals of a Best Value" week-end event? PTTW has teamed with the AVI Resort and Casino to offer a week-end event that gives the attendees a full entertainment schedule, food, housing and inexpensive drink prices. For the past 3 years the cost of the event has been held to $ 175 per person, double occupancy. For this sum the attendees receive 2 nights accommodations at the Resort, entertainment (The Boat Drunks, Stars on the Water, Hannah's Reef, Bob Karwin, Sunny Jim, Jim Hoehn, Kelly McGuire, Kevin Mulvenna, Rob Mehl, and Gary Seiler. What a lineup!) , memento, laminate, 5 meals (Friday night seafood buffet, Saturday night prime rib buffet, two breafast buffets and Cheeseburger in Paradise poolside lunch), AND $ 1.50 Coronas and Margarita's all weekend!
What are the amenities at the Resort? The Resort has a full 3 meal Buffet, 1 restaurant for light dining, and a fine steakhouse. In addition, there is a fun zone for children that operates throughout the day and evening, a championship 18 golf course, RV park, large sand beach, water toy rental, gambling, an on site multi screen theater and 3 fast food facilities on the property.
How big is the PTTW event? This is the 3rd Annual event. In the past 2 years the event has attracted over 400 people per year. This year the expected attendance is 600 Parrot Heads and guests.
Is there a limit on the number of registrations being taken? The event has never put a limit on the registrations. With 455 rooms we have been able to comfortably accommodate all attendees. However, as the popularity of the event grows, registrations may be capped in future years.
What is the entertainment for the event? Each year the PTTW committee attempts to bring in new entertainers to provide a cross section of the Parrot Head nation. We have some regional favorites that have found a home at this event, but, the search for new and varied entertainment is always on-going. In the past the event has had up to 14 different entertainers during the event. The current entertainment schedule consists of: The Boat Drunks, Stars on the Water, Hannah's Reef, Bob Karwin, Sunny Jim, Jim Hoehn, Kelly McGuire, Kevin Mulvenna, Rob Mehl, and Gary Seiler. There could also be some special guests!
What other activities are being held during the event? As with all Parrot Head events we will have a Silent Auction and Raffle to raise funds for a few needy organizations. These activities are held on Friday and Saturday during the event and we have had some very wonderful items up for bid.
How do I get to Laughlin, Nevada? Laughlin is located about 80 miles South of Las Vegas. It lies on the Colorado River which is a major water recreational area. Inexpensive commercial flights are available to Las Vegas from all points of the country. Laughlin can be reached by commercial air, car or limo service. Cost of Limo service to Laughlin is about $ 60 round trip. Travel time from Las Vegas to Laughlin by car is about 1.5 hours.
What is the weather like in Laughlin during the event? Since the event will be in May of 2006, the weather will be sunny and mild. Average temperature in May is about 85 degrees A majority of the activities are around the pool area, however, evening events and inclement activities can be held in the climate controlled Pavilion. This years event will be held at the new Lagoon Pool.
Is there Internet service at the hotel? Yes, the rooms that will be reserved for this event will have high speed internet hook-up.
Well, it sounds like everything is on site, what else can there be??? We will have mini-marts at the pool hosted by our partnering clubs, and Parrot Head vendors selling some of those "MUST HAVE" items. And..Free of Charge is all the Phun you can handle with some of the greatest people in the World!
