Looking for Buffett-like genre songs, need suggestions.

Here you can discuss any other artist including Sunny Jim, Todd Snider, Jerry Jeff Walker, Steve Goodman, James Taylor, Alan Jackson, Bob Marley, Kenny Chesney and others

Looking for Buffett-like genre songs, need suggestions.

Post by LittleMrMagic »

Hi, I'm putting together a "Parrothead" night at a bar in Utah (yes, I've heard all the jokes. . . we have bars here), I have enough Buffett to choke on. I'm looking for similar sounding "upbeat" music (just to keep it from getting stale).
Rock, Reggae, Ska, Calypso, Zydeco, Cubano . . . whatever, you guys know the format. You guys listen to Radio Margaritaville. But none of us can 24/7. I am after some hidden gems, or just a song or two that might not be remembered by a 36yo DJ who grew up listening to U2 and Depeche Mode and more recently Jay-Z and 50 Cent (Hey, it's a livin').

I'm drawing on the thousands of years of Parrothead knowledge that surround me here. Please, oh Guru's of Margarita culture help!!!

Any suggestions???

Here's what I'm thinking generally so far. . .
Bubba himself,
Bob Marley
Ziggy
Julian
Shaggy
311
Sublime
Harry Belefonte
Dennis Brown
Sean Paul
Peter Tosh
K. Chesney
A. Jackson
Jack Johnson
Ben Harper
G. Love

Any further suggestions???? Specific songs would help. Thanks
