I like Valentine's Day for one reason: it's good for my business (jewelry)
Other than that, I just think it's a poor excuse to put pressure on people to show affection. We stopped 'celebrating' valentine's day years ago when we realized that it was like any other day to begin with. If he wants to buy me flowers or a gift, he will, and if I want to, I will. We don't need a date on a calendar to remind us to.

i hate it when people ask if you are married, you say no and their reply is "oh" - like there is something wrong with that

that sounds like something a grandmother would say...
But if you aren't married, I bet you get a lot more drinks bought for you..

I do not agree with Valentines Day and the entire Hallmark Holiday idea. Its tough to be a guy like me on Valentines Day. I love to buy flowers and other small thoughtful gifts all year round and will always let my girl know she is the most important thing in my world.
However...
I get beaten up a little because every year at the office on Feb 15 she gets asked what I did for her on Valentines Day and the real answer is nothing special.

Hey Lefty, here is a little idea to help ya.
Buy one of those cheap vday boxes that are made for kids. If you have a song or poem write a phrase or words on the cards then give them to her. Make sure you number them

you rock because you do those little things for her all year round. but mixing things up on the 14th could be kind of cool like flock suggested. or if you could get into her office the night before, leave little notes all over it for her to find during the day

All excellent suggestions...
Even the nekkid one. The girls at work would probably like it too...
I have been thinking of something small and meaningful this year. Not sure what exactly yet, but I've got all day Monday off to execute it should I decide to.

Scavenger hunt on VDay.
Buy small presents that would have a special meaning to you both. CD of favorite artist (Jimmy of course) , post card from places you been together. The scatter them with friends, family, or places who been. Did this once, I had her go to all the places that we had our first. The first place we eat out, dancing, so on and so on.

Those are my two favorite flowers!!!! Nice pick!
BTW Christina i'm not that big of a fan of Vday either I think a card is more than enough on that day, no need for anything frilly. It really doesn't make much sense to me, I'd rather be surprised with flowers or a night out some other time when you are least expecting it, than to be expecting it on a certain day of the year.

Something that is done by some wives of submariners,is, when hubby leaves and is gone for a long while. ..They put little notes and or other small items into pockets of the coveralls..sometime during the cruise they find a note or a piece of candy or a photo or something when they least expect it.
Anyone could do this...just get creative.
Next time someone asked her what you got her...tell her to get creative....batteries for BOB,edible underwear, a p*** movie, Get creative.
Think corny or whatever like a small key and a keychain. The key goes to the lock she has on your heart Then give her a pair of bbolt cutters iin a big box like roses come in, incase she loses the key.

Okies that is bad but maybe gives you an idea of how to think about the situation...you want her to smile and remember it always. Not just that day but everyday that you share.( OF COURSE y'all alredy knew that.)
