I'm late jumping on BN, but I'll be there on Thursday...along with CheetoGyrl, Parrothead Mama, and bringing my friend, wooztheblondestranger, to her first Buffett show (FINALLY!!!)....and several other members of the SBPHC, and I believe joining forces with the LAPHC.
This will be my 4th or 5th show at Irvine Meadows ('scuse me, Verizon Wireless)...I was there in '94, '97, '01...and it seems like at least one other (maybe '98 or '99). I'm so glad Jimmy decided to come back.
Only a few hours til kickoff...WOOO!!!

Good morning to you as well! I see you're a little louder this morning than you've been all week!
Are you guys still meeting up at LaQuinta tomorrow? Any idea what time you might be doing this? I might try to crash your party depending on how the commute from Vegas goes!
See ya tomorrow!

I guess I'm a lot more excited this morning! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Um....no we're not meeting at the La Quinta

Just kiddin'. We're looking at about a 10:00 leave time from Ventura which should get us in the La Quinta area around noon or so. We're hoping for an early check in and then will be having lunch at Tia Juana's (or somewhere right there). We're meeting up with some LA club people (and prolly OC club people too) at Tia Juana's. From there, we'll figure out how we're getting to the parking lot. My cell number is on the list and I should have it on me so feel free to call and see where we are!
Drive safe and remember to bring the meat on a stick!

I just listened to their pre-recorded message with all the rules, etc. They are saying they won't open the lot until 3:00pm. I know we got in @12n the last time we saw JB there...... does anybody have info on this?

rules are meant to be broken.... The pre-recorded message for the GW shows all these years always says the same thing... We're always in the lot at 9:00 AM though so I wouldn't worry about it....

Are we going to be allowed in the parking lot without concert tickets? I think they have done that in the past at Irvine.

A friend of mine just drove by the entrance today and they have a flashing sign saying no entrance until 3pm and no entrance to the parking lot without tickets. Is this a scare tactic or true?
Buffett Concert Virgin

Hi all,
Under the category of late bloomers, I discovered Jimmy Buffett about 4 years ago. Sure, I'd heard the hits, and even played them in a band for years (there's nothing quite like the look on Grandma's face when you're singing Why Don't We Get Drunk at her Granddaughter's wedding reception

), but never took a deep dive until a few years ago. I've been hooked ever since on the depth of the man and his music.
Anyway, this Saturday (4/22/06) will be our first JB concert and we're really looking forward to it. If any of you have suggestions on how a couple of virgins can get the most out of our first tailgate party and concert, I'd greatly appreciate your input.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Bill

Thusday's parking lot is usually lot less crowded than Saturday's. On Thusday there won't be an overwhelming ## of RV's in line at noon so they may do their best to not open until 3. BUT on Saturday people will start to line up at 9 AM and the cops usually have them open up the lot by noon!
I'll be there both nights looking forwad to a awesome weekend!
JB Concert # 29 and 30 for me this weekend.

Well, this could be the first year this happens, however, here is a page from the past years:
About 5/6 years ago, the message went out about the 3 pm entry. However, in every year since, we get to Irvine around 11 am - 12:30 pm. We always park across from the venue on streets surrounding business park style offices. What happens is the party starts on the street, and MANY Phans are phlocking in RV's and cars on the street. The police buzz around, and beacuse it is public property, there is not much they can do to prevent it. You will even see cars just circling, It gets crazy.
Then, the Irvine PD finally tells Irvine Meadows (Verizon) to open the lot to get people off the street. This usually happens around 12:30 or 1 pm.
With this in mind, I will have my entourage, tour bus and tow vehicle parked on the streets and with the exception of lil ol me designated bus driver, and will begin the festivities!
Hope this infomation helps, but who knows, maybe it will be different this year, even though I doubt it!
FINS UP!

two things... Hawaiian shirts and jello shooters
The shirts are standard gear.. add beads and leis as desired.
Then, you make a whole bunch of shooters, bring 'em along in a Playmate cooler and you'll make instant lifelong friends as you share them!
..or
Bring a "handle" of Parrot Bay rum. You'll make instant lifelong friends as you share it with others as they trade you jello shooters!
By nightfall, you'll be in full Buffett mode!!
