Gosh, could this administration possibly have twisted the facts a little? Like maybe he was closer than 30 yards? The poor guy has already gone from "peppered" to "shot in the face" to having a heart incident from deeply lodged pellets. Politicians will never learn that the coverup is almost always worse than the event they're hiding.

Careful Sam might get upset...I know what did it. It was the aliens that built the pyamids! They came down shot the guy and had the White House cover it up.

captainjoe wrote:You know, if this was Al Gore or Ted Kennedy that had SHOT A MAN. Everybody else would be on this and rightly so since, like said before, it has been almost 200 years since the last shooting. I am sorry that this story embarressed the White House. But this is a story.
Ahh Capt, Ted/Edward "I Can't Drive in Chappaquidic" Kennedy got away with killing a woman and still gets re-elected.
Someone said to stop mentioning that elsewhere.
All we have here is a wounded man....
The story maybe news and needed to be reported..."Car wreck on the interstate ( or whatever). film at 11." Okies and let it go. What I don't really understand is the media feeding frenzy over it. Maybe that is more appropriate to say.
As for the wounds the man recieved....I suppose it is possible that during the movement, transportation and treatment of him it is quite possible the pellet could have been moved. Also about his wounds I have seen various reports on where he was actually struck. Some say face, throat, and chest, some say no injuries to the face....
There was an article that said that VP and the hunting party did recieve a warning from Fish and Game or DNR ( whatever Texas calls their law enforcement regulatory agency) for not having the bird stamp and that was normal procedure since the law has only been in effect for 5 months. I did not see anything mentioned about the guide.

Glad to see that Political Drivel is alive and well here at Buffettnews. Nobody's laughing at the poor bastard that got shot, they are laughing at the Freaking Vice President of the United States that took 5 draft deferrments to avoid shooting people in Vietnam, and lied to the whole world so we could send other 19 year old kids to shoot people and get shot in Iraq, used his hair trigger finger and shot a 78 year old lawyer in the face, because he thought he was a freaking quail, and this administration has never let a small thing like the facts get in the way of their shooting from the hip and ask/avoid questions later.
And: I WOULD RATHER RIDE IN A CAR WITH TED KENNEDY THAN JOIN THE NATIONAL GUARD WHILE BUSH WAS PRESIDENT.

Not taking sides here, but.....
Ted.....
Drives off bridge.
Car sunk in remote location. Swam out, walked to where-ever, alone, sobered up and called the authorities. Pre -cell phone era.
Dick....
Shoots man, has full Secret Service entourage. Complete with every form of remote communication known to man. Has a complete medical staff, because he could have a grabber at any minute. Again with mobile communciation equipment. Many other individuals in hunting party, again probably all with cell phones. Yet it took a full day to notify anybody other than GW.
Ted's accident was terribly wrong, terribly tragic and yes, probably should have cost him his public service career. But it is not exactly comparing Apples to Apples when it comes to this COVER UP

You know there ARE bigger stories out there.
For instance, did you know that Britain and Sweeden BOTH lost in curling at the olympics?

Granted you are not taking sides but there is something you are overlooking......how long did Ted/Edward Kennedy wait before telling anyone or try to get medical help for Mary Jo Kopehne? How many hours went by? Even pre cell phone era does make up for his lack of notification or his blatant disregard and lack of care.
There was no wait in getting medical help for the man that was accidently shot. The wait was in telling the media about the accident. Which the newswhores are fussing about and turning into THE STORY. They are more p*** about some small town newspaper breaking the story and are seeking revenge.
As Garry noted there is other more important news out there.

Your right Sam, A better question is "Why was the VP hunting on some lobbyist 's property in Texas?
........"Looking for answers to questions that bothered him so!"

That is not quite right... It is reported that he/ they had proper hunting licenses.... they did not have a bird stamp that only became required within the last 5 months.

When are they going to go ahead and pass that bill allowing hunting of humans? Then we can team up with Rutger Hauer and Gary Busey to hunt down Ice-T, like in Surviving the Game. Anyone else see that movie?

and a good, conscientious, law-abiding hunter would know the rules and make sure that everything was in order before heading out for the trip.
