Chicago O'Hare Airport Question...

Post by McGee »

I need to switch airlines in Chicago next month.

My question is can I walk from one terminal to another (I believe it's terminal 3 to ternimal 2) without going through security? I only have an hour and don't think I can make it if I have to exit one terminal and enter the other through security.

Thanks!
Indecision may or may not be my problem....

If you change terminals you'll have to go back through security. What airlines?

Hate to disagree with you Quiet & Shy, but you do not have to clear security again going from terminal to terminal unless you leave a secured area.
I've got coastal confessions and a few more, how about you?

Yup, that is correct... you DO NOT have to pass through security again...there is a hallway from terminal to terminal that is all in the secured area...you should have plenty of time...

Of course, it is O'Hare, which means you need to worry about delays, misrouted luggage, and the like.. :)

Good advice. Last time I flew through there, my connecting flight got cancelled, and I waited in standby for some 8-odd hours.... :x

as far as I can see from the map of the terminals, there is the secure area in all the terminals behind the ticket counters, with the inter-terminal walkway/tramway behind the secured gates. It makes sense, or at least should, in that folks coming in from elsewhere would just get dropped at the front door of whatever terminal they needed.

I am absolutely positive...

When we went to Key West 2 years ago, I booked my flight from O'Hare to Key West on American.

Later, I found a deal on United from Central Wisconsin to O'Hare on United so I booked that also so I didn't have to drive to O'Hare....

I did not check any luggage (packed everything weeks earlier and gave to Eric, who checked it with him and I met on the second plane)....

I went from Terminal 1 to 3 I believe...it was a hike and I was hurrying because I had an hour layover and had no idea how long it would take...it is a big place, but I made the walk in about 20 minutes....

Okay, then they've changed that since I last did that there...or it could just be the terminals I'd used (usually 4 to 2 or 3). I'm glad someone else had more up-to-date info. Have a good trip!

Check this out; there are some good maps of the terminals, which may help you figure out where you need to go and how to get around.

forget flying altogether. Take greyhound and spend the ride looking at the baby pictures that teh old lady next to you insists on showing you.
"Oh all the money that e'er I spent, I spent it in good company.
And all the harm that I ever did, Alas it was to none but me.
And since it falls, unto my lot, that I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call, 'Goodnight and Joy be with you all.'"
