Feb. 14, 2006: Texas superstar Pat Green signed a deal with BNA, the label announced Tuesday.
Green had released three albums through Universal and had one hit, "Wave on Wave."
Green's debut, "Three Days," went gold. His most recent release was "Lucky Ones." He also released albums independently in Texas where he became a superstar.
Label Chairman Joe Galante said, "We have all been Pat Green fans since we first heard his music. Pat has put himself in a place that is not only distinctive but has appeal to a youthful audience, many of which are just being introduced to country music. Having the opportunity to work with him is very exciting and taking him to the next level is going to be a blast."
Green has sold out the Houston Astrodome (56,000 capacity) multiple times as well as the Smirnoff Center (20,000 capacity) in Dallas. This past summer, Green toured with superstar and now label mate Kenny Chesney on his "2005 Somewhere in the Sun Tour" and is currently on tour with Keith Urban on his "Still Alive In '06 Tour."
"I know I've found the right home to stand behind my music," said Green. "I am looking forward to working with Joe Galante and the team at RLG (the parent company of BNA). They're a great group of people with a passion for country music."
Green's first single from his forthcoming album is slated to hit country radio this summer.

Very cool to hear! Pat and the rest of the band are some of the coolest guys you could ever meet. Been lucky enough to hang out with them a few times before and after some shows (a friend is related to one of the band members). I know that with their newer mainstream popularity, they start getting accused of "selling out". I guess you just can't win sometimes. I hope they just keep doing what they've been doing!

I never cared for Pat (or the rest of the Texas frat boy contingent) before "Wave on Wave" so for some of us not being fans of his music really doesn't have anything to do with his newfound mainstream popularity.

I think since Pat Green hit Nashville a few years ago, his albums have gone downhill. If you compare George's Bar or Live at Billy Bob's to the latest one, there's no comparison.

I agree with liking his earlier stuff also. Saw him fairly recently in a small venue with his band and always enjoy their enthusiasm.

"I'm just an old dancehall dreamer."

Dancehall Dreamer
(The guy spoke volumes as a youngster...)

Found myself in a bar room
Doing things I ought not to
Watching life as it slowly passed me by
I was holding on to lovers and discarding other with my lying
Living my whole life like this I guess is risky business
Some folks say that I wont last too long
I cant say I blame them, for saying what they're saying
Right now Im just holding on

Now Im just an old dancehall dreamer
Living my life in the past
I keep holding on to dreams and them slow moving trains
I dont know how long I can last

So I called out to Jesus
Said Lord I really need ya
You've gotta carry me for a while
Ive been running too long
Singing these old tired songs
As the wheels keep turning out the miles
Like I said Im just a dreamer
Ive gotta keep believing
That some day things will go my way
Just running from the devil
Ive got one foot on the pedal
The other ones laid up in the grave.

"Carry on~"
