I'd like to thank Jimmy & his management team for getting Sonny Landreth to play on his more recent CD's.
If it weren't for that, I doubt I would have come across such a wonderful guitar player. being in Canada, we don't get a lot of Blues/Zydeco bands up here.
Of course, from Sonny I've branched out to John Hiatt & Clifton Chenier (whom he worked with).
I'd like to see JB do some more Cajun flavoured recordings.

I first heard of him through his very excellent South of I-10 album. It was around that same time I also learned that he was a member of John Hiatt's Goners. I've since had the opportunity to see him in concert a number of times, a couple of times in Austin when he nearly stole the show with his brand of "slydeco" guitar. He's definitely one of my favorite guitarists to come along in recent memory. To make the circle complete I later learned Buffett and Hiatt were both in the same band many moons ago. If my memory serves, it was one of the versions of the New Christy Minstrels.
Grant Street is a good example of his live playing. If you don't like that I'm not so sure you'll like any of his other records but I'd recommend the aforementioned South of I-10 and Levee Town as well as his work with John Hiatt in the Goners.A1A BOUND wrote:I just bought the Grand Street album last night. I wasn’t that impressed. In fact I am kicking myself for buying a pretty much all instrumental CD. Maybe someone could recommend one of his better albums.
