I use the handicap toilet whenever it is available. Not only is it bigger, but you have those bars to grab onto when you're passing a big one!

Confession - I do use the handicap stall.

Here is my excuse:

I find myself transiting a lot of airports with a suitcase and a flight bag and frankly there just isn't enough room in your average stall to haul that stuff in with you, although I have made that situation work too.

Of course, I feel awkward when I do this because I'm in uniform and I don't want folks developing any negative ideas about airline pilots (alcoholics, skirtchasers AND using handicapped stalls who the hell do they think they are?!!), and I would definitely feel like a jerk if I came out and a handicapped individual was waiting.

Here's a thought - maybe airport stalls should ALL be bigger.

Cheers.

unlike handicapped parking spaces...I believe using a handicapped bathroom stall is quite fine. It is there so that someone in a wheel chair can use the rest room...but being hadicapped does not mean that you can't wait in line like everyone else. I am extremely opposed to anyone parking in a handicapped spot, because that will be occupied for a long time, and therefore the person who really needs that spot will not be able to park. On the other hand, if it is a crowded restroom, I go in, do my thing and come out. If a handicapped person was waiting, it would be about one minute. besides, there are laws against parking in a handicapped spot...to my knowledge...there is no law against using a handicapped stall.

Handicap parking stalls are my pet peeve!

I see these "kids" using their grandmothers parking permit to run into the grocery store or where ever...and their grandmother isn't even in the car.

Now before anyone says anything, I know there are plenty of people who you can't "see" their disabilty, such as a bad back, or a bad heart, and they have the handicap permits. No problem...but you know the ones I am talking about.
