bring cups for your drinks. there's an ordinance
against drinking alcohol, but as long as you
have it in a cup and don't provoke the Mansfield police,
you should be okay. keep any bottles out of sight.
usually they open the lots between 9:00and 10:00[/quote]
thanks for the info....my friend doesnt get out of work
until 3, so we wont be there till around 4 or so..
going to stock up though, lol...
looking forward to my first show!!

pool water
Getting our "stuff" ready to go... having never been to GW, is there anywhere easy to get water for the pool?

Re: pool water
Not that I am aware of. The times we brought the pool we also brought the water to fill it. It's a royal pain which is why we stopped bringing the pool!!!pirate at 50 wrote:Getting our "stuff" ready to go... having never been to GW, is there anywhere easy to get water for the pool?
Even if there was a spigot you could use, unless your in the front row of the parking lot you'll be hauling that water a LONG way.
Indecision may or may not be my problem....

The best way to do it is bring a few (depending on how much water you need) large outdoor Rubbermaid garbage cans with tops. When you get to the GW area stop at one of those do-it-yourself car washes and fill the buckets.
If you have a pick-up truck it helps a great deal.

I'll be heading up tomorrow night, and I need to confirm directions.
I'll be coming in I-84 from Northeast PA, and Mapquest is telling me to get off of 84 and take 691, 91, 15, and then back onto 84. I presume this is to circumvent Hartford. Since I'll be coming through that area around 11 pm, will I be ok to just stay on 84? Thanks

Are you heading into the Boston area? If so stay on 84 all the way until the end, it ends at the Mass Pike (Route 90) then head east towards Boston. The Mass Pike connects with 495 and 128/95 and goes right into Boston so no matter where your heading you should find your way.rednekkPH wrote:I'll be heading up tomorrow night, and I need to confirm directions.

There is no traffic in Hartford at 11AM let alone 11PM.

Yes, those directions take you around Hartford. I'd stay right on 84.rednekkPH wrote:I'll be heading up tomorrow night, and I need to confirm directions.

I would go 84 to the mass pike (rt90 east) to 495 South then follow what ever directions you have to the Red Roof Inn. I am pretty sure you can see the Red Roof from rt 495.
You could go 95 North all the way from NY but I think that may be longer.
My best guess, from the time you get on the Mass Pike to you get to Mansfield, about a 1 hour -1:15m.

I'd also go I-84 to the Mass Pike (I-90, toll, EasyPass compatible) to I-495. No way I'd go I-95 through CT if there was another viable option... It could be a *nightmare*....BottleofRum wrote:I would go 84 to the mass pike (rt90 east) to 495 South then follow what ever directions you have to the Red Roof Inn. 1:00-1:15 sounds about right on the time, too. It's about 20 minutes to Mansfield from the Mass Pike/I-495 interchange. Be careful just south of Bellingham; there is construction and the road is down to two lanes.

for that matter....
*****TRAFFIC ALERT*****
There is construction on I-495 south in the Franklin area. Backups have been as much as ten miles, and there's nowhere to get off once you're in the backup. Especially Saturday morning, with Cape Cod traffic, I'd seriously consider an alternate route, or you may get stuck in a mess.
If you're coming from NH, VT, or Maine and would normally take I-495 south, consider I-95/128 to I-495 south.
If you're coming from Connecticut through Hartford, consider getting off the Mass Pike at Rt 146 south toward Providence, then picking up I-295 north to I-95 north to I-495 south.
If you're coming through Connecticut on I-95 and would normally cut up I-91 through Hartford, stay on I-95 north through Providence instead.
From the Natick/Framingham/Worcester area: consider Mass Pike/I-95/Rt 128 south to I-495 south (or come down Rt 115 to US 1 to I-495 south. The backup will be north of the US 1/I-495 interchange)
Bottom line: look at your maps. I-495 south between Bellingham and Wrentham will probably be a rolling backup, and a mess. I know some of the routes I mentioned sound ridiculously circuitous to you locals, but that construction is causing massive problems, and it's better to take an extra half hour en route than be stuck in traffic for up to two hours.....

That's actually a pretty good idea, but those trash barrels must be HEAVY once filled. How do you manuver them to the pool?BottleofRum wrote:pirate at 50 wrote:Getting our "stuff" ready to go... having never been to GW, is there anywhere easy to get water for the pool?
