it's going to be a battle of epic proportions...
the good news is that drunks at a Poison concert may be a little more likely to get beligerent. I hate to generalize, but we all know that 20,000 Parrot Heads are going to be really HAPPY to be there. :D

Argh me matey, if it's a battle they want, then it's a battle they shall get! :pirate:

Well, not really, is gonna be to hot to argue. And that's not our style (which was your point).

Jus1mor - Obviously a can/bottle is a no no but were the cops looking inside your cups to identify its' contents? Maybe fruity drinks instead of beer are in order.

Any Va. Cops out there?

Post by Pirate 47 »

Does anyone know any of Virginia's finest?? Can we confirm, or hopefully deny, this rumor about alcohol policy enforcement in the parking lot??

Buffett folks are definately happy folks. Poison folks?? Well, that about says it all.

They actually looked into the cups. They did say, for the most part, we're a good group of people. BUT, he said management at Nissan was pushing the police to do this.

It's gonna be hot, that's for sure...... :o

Post by Jus1Mor »

I got this right from the horses mouth (no pun) . We talked a good 15 minutes with them and they said the concert has no bearing. They said Dave Mathews and Jimmy Buffett are the worst for issues and said if Jimmy decides to not come back there, so be it.

It was rather calm for Poison, geez, all us original poison fans are almost 40 :o

Wow you guys killed my pre-concert buzz!!! Not that I get hammered but I do like to partake in an adult beverage or two before a show. I wonder if a travel mug would pass? Oh well its still Buffett.

Beer prices

Post by Jus1Mor »

Not that I normally need any more to drink after I get inside, but for those of you who care, beer inside is $11 for 24oz can

At first I went :o but if you figure you are really buying 2 beers in one shot, it's not so bad. What kind of beer comes in a 24oz can? Fosters? Don't know why I'm asking, I probably won't need it.

Anybody on here going to the Chesney concert at Nissan this weekend? That'll have a big "drinking" crowd. If someone is going report how the cops were about alcohol.

Anyone else???

Post by Pirate 47 »

Does anyone else know anyone who has been to a Nissan concert recently? If so, lets find out how the parking lot was. Sure would be nice to know.

Why would they still open the gates at 12??? They wouldn't expect people to sit in a hot lot for 8 hours and NOT drink would they??

I may be the person my parents warned me about, but, I still want to down a Corona or 8 in the lot.

My wife is going to the Chesney concert tonight. She is going to do some "recon" and see what the deal is. I'll report back in the a.m.

I AM!!

I will def let you all know. We're planning on getting there around 3, concert starts at 7, so we'll see. We were planning on having a few in the lot b4.

I can tell you this....I was at Merriweather the year they decided not to let us in early.....the last year Jimmy played there. It was NOT a pretty picture. Traffic backed up the road; we ended up partying at the mall lot.

If that's the case, I may as well tell my boss I can work Friday. I sure as hell am not paying for alcohol inside.

Parking Lot Reports

Post by Pirate 47 »

THANKS MDshark and carey24 for offering to report on the Parking Lot scene. We will all await your report !!

FYI - I also was at Meriweather for the last few concerts when the heat was turned up. It definately takes something away from the experience. However, we seasoned Parrot Heads seem to be able to roll with punches.

Here's hoping for a good report.

The boys in blue in Prince William County most certainly don't mess around. :-? :-?

Sorry to hear it might be such a downer for y'all.

I'm sort of thinking that if a cop gets asked, "Are you going to bust everyone at Buffett?" then of course he/she is going to say YES. My husband and I went to a show in Charlotte a couple of years ago. When we saw all the rules they have down there, we showed up with nothing. Not a cooler, NADA. And let me tell ya, they were throwin' it down in those parking lots. Charlotte is a tough town with equally tough police but that didn't stop anyone.

I'm not going to leave the Corona at home for the show at Nissan. There's no way they can bust 20,000+ PH's. :pirate: :pirate: :pirate:

Ok, just got off the phone with my wife on her way home from the Chesney concert. She said there were definitely plenty of people having a few frosty ones in the parking lot. She talked to one of the event staff and he said as long as its in a cup there should be no real worries. So, pretty much same as always. I think just following a few rules will keep everybody happy and out of trouble.

1. Keep it in a cup and don't flaunt it.
2. Don't be obnoxious and invite trouble.
3. Leave the pot at home if you're into that
4. Don't let anyone underage in your group drink.
5. Clean up your trash so they'll keep letting us in early!

Medium range weather models indicate a hot and humid August 3rd at Nissan. NWS is predicting a heat index of 103, with around a 30% chance of thunderstorms.
