I'll be there!!! I'm so excited to finally know exact dates! This is a good day, heading to Myrtle Beach and knowing when to start planning for my JB fix. (I'm so glad the dates weren't announced while I'm gone, no access to a computer, so I'd not found out until Monday!)

You might have a Jodibug + 1 - I work on Saturdays starting in June, so a Sunday concert is PERFECT!!!

I was at Charlotte 2 years ago when he played the basketball arena, I had 3rd row on the floor. Just my luck every time Heather and Jules came out they were both on the same side of the stage, the other side from where our seats were.
How's the outdoor venue down there?

Not sure. I've also only been to the indoor arena. Looks like a typical amphitheater set up.

Can anyone confirm acoustics, tailgating policies, etc.?

We'll have a phlock from Knoxvegas, probably staying at the Hampton Inn on Tryon Street. There are a bunch of hotels together on Tryon about 3 miles frm the amphitheatre. Tailgating is allowed.

Typical acoustics as any amphitheater (except that
everyone in Charlotte feels the need to talk on their cellphones during the show).
Tailgating? Suks! 2-3 years ago they did not open the parking lot until exactly 6:00 pm for the 8:00 show. Cars lined up on the streets in all directions did not sway them. My friends and I took a cab and ended up walking the last 3/4 mile because we were sitting in traffic with no a/c and paying by the minute. So, as soon as we get to the parking lot gate at 6:00 they open. Now we are standing in an empty parking lot watching people just pulling in. No parties set up. Police everywhere. So we decide to go in. At 8:00 the show started. At 8:45 friends called my cellphone to say they had been waiting in line to get to the turnstile for an hour. They missed half the show.

I'm not going, but was there in 1995 and 1999 (GOSH that seems so long ago when you put in writing!

) I don't remember (notice that I'm qualifying my remark

) any issues about getting in to tailgate. My group wouldn't have gone as early as noon, but I feel certain we'd have been there by 2:00 or 3:00. Gravel parking lot. Seemed a bit short of porta potties. Necessity being the mother of invention, that's where my sister and I created "bathroom races" to make it "cool" to pee FAST since the lines were so long.

Times have changed since then. Last time he was there, it was exactly 6:00 pm. Believe me, walking 3/4 mile after we had already partied will really make you remember.

EWWWW...

That really stinks.

But at least it least it gave me a chance to look at my old ticket stubs-THAT made me happy!

what are some of the closer hotels? Y-No's post makes verizon sound like it's run by an ex-vice-principal and I always try to avoid long walks in the dark when I've been downisland for a few hours

Not much in the area. A place called Candlewood Suites is about 1.25 mile closer. Can't vouch for it though, never been there. The Hampton Inn is in the middle of the University area so there is a lot of bars/nightclubs.

I'm VERY HAPPY to get a date in Charlotte...for those of you from out of town, hotels can be found in the "University City " area as well as the just as close Concord Mills area. The Parrothead Club of Charlotte usually has a party in the area and possibly a shuttle. I'll know more as the plans get made and will share asap. You can also check their website for information soon. I agree with the "tailgate blues"...Verzion has not been easy to work with in the past and really jammed things up due to not opening up the gates early enough. We'll know soon what they plan to do! IMHO it would help if tailgater's would pick up their trash and take it with them...rumors are that this is one of the reasons tailgating is frowned upon...in the past Parrotheads have been very "trashy" and leave it all in the parking lot. I can't wait to see many of you BN'ers in Charlotte!!!

I have seen Jimmy there a few times. It has good sound, never had a problem. The tailgating use to be good, but I have heard the past few years they have gotten real strict. Not sure though I havent been for a concert there in about 4 years
