I've always been to Alpine Valley and I'm a Tinley virgin.
This is straight from the venue website.

Tailgating and drinking are not permitted in First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre parking lots, per a Village of Tinley Park ordinance. A wide variety of food and beverages are available inside the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre before and during every performance.

That is 50% of the experience for me.
Especially for those phans who can't get tickets but still want to join the party in the parking lot.

Wisconsin is known for great tailgaing ....Illinois, not so much.

The Jimmy Buffett concert is the exception. Usually gates open 3 hours before show time, but usually earlier than that. People set up tiki bars, ships, grills, you name it! It's a good time!

Huge outdoor beer garden in tropical setting. He stayed 2 hours after the show hanging out witht he fans. Colosseum management probably booking a Caribbean band to play before Mac around 7pm. The Mac show would be a great meeting place for out of town Parrotheads on Friday night. See you there.
Too bad it's a 21+ show
all the better---no carding for beer---but the gates are open so those under 21 can SNEEK and i say SNEEK a peek before someone lets the guards know

I know I have posted this a time or 2 but please allow me to pass on a web site I found yesterday. It's www.stubhub.com and it has tickets for everything. I checked out the Tinley Park show and there are a slew of lawn tickets available. There are reserved seats too. You agree to the price and stubhub adds a service charge and FedEx fee. It's really no different the TM. Check it out. :D :D :D

I'll definitely be there! :D

I have been organizing a bus trip to Alpine since 1997, but a scheduling conflict is preventing me from doing so this year. So, the "regulars" in our group decided to try for Tinley tickets and were limited to just 12 lawn seats (obviously not enough to fill an entire charter).

Does anyone happen to have any openings on a bus going from the Northwest burbs? Is CIP in Des Plaines planning a trip?

There are 12 of us (most of us in our 30's) that would like to avoid the drive, if possible. Please PM me with any info.

Thanks in advance!

Fins up! ^^^^

Probably the only way I make this show is working the VIP tent. I'm going to volunteer, but don't know if I'll be there or not.

Probably get the highbrow looks from their friends' parents but screw 'em! Promised I'd take 'em before JB hangs it up. Looks like the ol' family vacation will be spent in the Chicago area this year!

Any other families with parakeets going to Tinley?
My husband and I are taking our five yr. old to her first ever concert and she is very excited to see Jimmy and we are on the lawn. Its going to be an exciting night.

There's been a bunch of chatter about who all is going but nothing about a gathering. :D :D This is my first time to Tinley so are there places near by where we can all meet up before the show? 8) 8) 8)

I know a lot of people party at the holiday inn, to pre-tailgate. Me and my group always camp, so we will be at the beach at Windy City Campground (about 10 minutes west of venue) But will need to and willl... set up a tailgating meeting.

Quick warning: Last time we stayed at the Holiday Inn, cops were checking incoming cars on the access road for open containers and such on Saturday afternoon. Looked like they were confiscating; don't know whether they were ticketing.

Our preference: LaQuinta Inn, formerly the Baymont. Cheaper, lots of good folks there (wound up parking at Tweeter next to some folks we'd stood in line with at the front desk) and some parking lot action at the Baymont as well. They're no doubt sold out by now, but keep checking, especially the week of the show. Lots of rooms are given up then, because folks book multiple rooms long before ticketing to make sure they've got that five-minute drive (and not the half-hour drive on I-80 to the next group of hotel/motels).
