And don't say that he has cut down on shows in all cities---Cause YES I do know this, but Jimmy uses Chicago as his base for ALL the midwest shows.
Where did you hear they are going to demolish it? Or are you just hoping...And since he is in VA on Aug 3, there is definitely not going to be a Thursday show...

They have been talking about demolishing it for about 2 years now. They are getting really close to selling the land.

They do not need it anymore--they are gonna have a new venue up in bridgeview at the new soccer stadium which can hold 25,000+ for concerts, and YES i do not its not as many as Tinley Park, but the sound will be 100x better.

Who are "they"?

Got reservation at the Wingate Inn in Tinley Park. Looks as if most hotels in Tinley Park are already booked solid.

We will be there again this year. It will be good to have Jimmy back to somewhere in the Chicago area where tailgating and parking are much more agreeable. I went to one of the Wrigley concerts last year and had a lot of fun (met several new BNers - and old ones too), but had to kind of scale things back a lot since I had to drive home.

Staying at the Sleep Inn in Tinley this year (made reservations Friday).

I hope to see lots of old and new friends there this year.

Hey, what ever happened to Poplar Creek Music Theatre? I saw Jimmy play there a couple of times. Is it gone?
Torn down in 1995 I believe maybe 1996... Jimmy last played there in 1994. Been playing at the world since, except for last year when his only Chicago area stop was Wrigley Field.

So now the venue is known as First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre? That just rolls off the tongue. Most people around here still call it the world anyway.

And the yuppie corporate worldwide takeover continues.
It'll ALWAYS be The New World Music Center, just as Comiskey Park will ALWAYS be COMISKEY PARK, and Great Woods will always be GREAT WOODS, not the F'ing Tweeter center, or whatever the hell the yuppies refer to it these days.

Maybe if I ever win the lottery someday, I can buy a sports team and call their stadium WAL MART STADIUM.

It's original name was the World Music Theater. They threw the New in there after about their fourth year when they changed the slop of the hill. I'm all with you though. I call it the World.

Granted I hate all corporate names on stadiums but I think the name of the new 500 million dollar Colts stadium is by far the worst name ever.

Lucas Oil Stadium!

Absolutely! There's still a chance I will go to the Buffett show. It will just depend on the Lollapalooza line up and who is playing on Saturday night. If anything, I might be able to spend some time at the Buffett tailgate. PM when it gets closer to showtime and I will let you know what I'm doing that weekend! :D

The Ravens had the chance to make things right a couple years back and name their stadium for Johnny Unitas. They botched that..
