What are you giving up...

for Lent???
I'm not Catholic, but my best friend growing up is. She always was giving up chocolate or TV for Lent... I picked up the habit.
It's like a second chance at New Year's Resolutions, and there's a time limit, so kind of an endurance test.
Sometimes they say you give it up for just the days of Lent, which doesn't count Sundays, so you can have what you give up on that day, but I don't usually do it that way.
Last year, I gave up computer games, completely removed them from 'puter, and found myself utterly and irreversably immersed in BUFFETT NEWS... I'm thinking of giving up BN this year, except for once a week. Nothing personal, 'cause I'd miss everybody, but I just gotta get more work (or pursuing dreamworks) done around here! I'm not getting any younger...

We were just discussing this tonight. DS is 8 and is giving up crumb cake. I just said "everything in moderation" LOL! I don't even remember what DH said.

I am going to "attempt" to fast during lunch on weekdays and then send the money I would have spent to charity

I voted for "housework" and then realized you can't give up
something you've already given up.

I prefer not to give things up, but to try to do something positive, like go to church an extra time per week.

That's a great idea. I genuinely couldn't think of many vices I indulge in that would be a real sacrifice to give up, but taking to time to go to mass an extra time a week would be a great thing to do for lent! I just might steal your idea!!!

I learned this from a wise priest and it makes me feel good about Lent.
