I have met Phans at the party before the show (tailgating) There are some phans that have never been shutout. I think there are always ticket to be had before a show. Just keep looking and You should find them at cost or a little above. I have used a scalper only 1 time. In 1983 I paid 2 times face for tickets. Thats the only time I used a scalper. I have been lucky sometimes. I would go to the venue and try to get tickets. It's worth a try.

sorry and you have no way to know this
I field "complaints" for a living

a lot of them call up after buying a Hi Def. TV spending 4000 to 10,000$
for a new TV

OR spending 20 several thousand $ to have a home theater installed

and griping to me about a 600$ piece of gear (or 70$ for a custom install)

So cost and complaining about it is met with
to me..

Maybe there's a small positive in all this.

If ticket prices are a little higher, maybe ticket scalpers, brokers and other profiteers will hesitate to buy as many tickets on speculation, leaving a few more tickets for us.

Maybe I'm just dreaming.

When bltching about the Stones' price people usually tend to leave out the fact that they also offered tickets at $60 a piece. Still steep, yes but it's not like the extremely high priced tix are the only ones available.

Yes but some people have CLASS, and do not want to sit in the back or way up high.

I used to not mind sitting in lawn or way up, because usually back in the day, I would just get really hammered or messed up and just go to have fun.

I know go to shows wanting to enjoy the show, and wanting to be closer to the stage. Yes I understand that costs more, but 400 for a ticket for a show, and tack on another 35 dollars for a service charge... For that much you outta be getting a lot more then an hour and 45 minute show.

So...I hear you saying because some of us still like the lawn, (no, not because I get inebriated, I barely drink) that we have "no class"? hmmmm...I'll try holding my pinky out next time I drink from my plastic margarita glass.
I think the lawn is fun. I can afford the close tickets, and had the choice last time, but I think the lawn is more fun.

What does class or the supposed lack of have to do with anything? Why pay through the nose for those kinds of prices when I can go see lots of other bands at a club for a much more reasonable price and, if you arrive early enough, find an ideal place to take in the show.

If I want to see a band bad enough I may pay a little more for better seats but as I noted above, the majority of the time I'd much rather attend a show in a much more intimate setting.

If I remember correctly, last year's highest ticket at the normal venues (not Vegas or Wrigley) was in the $70 - $80 range. This year it's $126. That's a $56 - $66 hike from last tour. That is a hefty jump. I thought it was a bit steep myself...I was expecting prices to be in the $75 - $90 range. This was one of the biggest increases I have ever seen for Buffett and I've been going to shows since 1988...This year will be my 18th show. I'm wondering about T-Shirts now....what can we expect. Last year I believe I paid $32 for one...I wouldn't be surprised to see $40 - $45 this year. Prices do go up...Disneyland is now $60. You gotta pay if you want to play... 8)

actually, I think the deeds of the many outweigh the class of the few. I had pavillion seats for Alpine my first year, but the majority of my group had lawn (combination of lucking into a last-minute pair of pav seats, and semi-last minute planning to go). After the first set, and the joy of having drunks stumbling and falling all over, and then getting belligerent when they got up; of having them walking right over the top of you because they couldn't focus and think "shape, must avoid" wore off; we headed to pavillion seats. (and the joy of fighting thru the group at the gates just so you could get to where your ticket said you could go.)

I'd rather have the experience of the pavillion where folks are a bit more restricted in their movements, and tend to be a bit more willing to see the artist, not the show on the lawn around them.

and while the chance to have a quieter "white noise" experience is worth more; I have to say that raising the prices to $125/ from last year's level is a bit off-putting. $90, up from $85 for pav seats, sure.. tacking almost 50% on seems a bit gratuitous.

I paid about $160 (including fees) for one of the Philly shows last year.
