No, the cat didn't scratch him or even make a sound. All we heard was a SPLASH!!
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

hopefully a little Goof Off and that painting will be good as new.
Goof Off would have done no good on some of the dirty deeds I did as a young whippersnapper
Of course I like to think that karma has already paid me back

From tonite's Conan O'Brien:

"What a bizarre story. Who knew Detroit had an art museum?" :D :D :D

Actually, my wife got a kick out of reading the article. She teachers inner city kids, the kid with the gum was from a charter school.

DeToilet

Hey msu#1 - you say that like it matters. If it's south of Flint and East of Lansing, it's ALL DeToilet and y'all can keep it that way.

I hope you're kidding, but not sure you are.... :-?

What's the big deal? How about teaching a kid that it's not okay to destroy someone else's property, whether it's a $1.5 million painting or a $5 poster. :-? :-?

If he took a can of spray paint to the front of your house, I'm guessing that would be a big deal, although your house (apartment, condo, whatever) probably costs less than $1.5M.....
I thought we where talking about gum? He stuck a piece of gum on a painting.

If I tried to put my cat in the tub, she'd slice and dice me like you wouldn't believe. I just carried her in the vicinity of our pool last year and ended up with stripes down my (pulling up my sleeves to check which arm) left arm. ouch. Of course, she felt bad about it later and was very embarrassed about the whole thing. Apologized by leaving a grassy hair ball on the back porch. :x

Canvas, properly treated and stretched; with paint applied to said canvas, adherring to the weave of the fabric. Given that the paint is not affixed by more than friction from its filling in the micro-crevices in the threads, application of something like a wad of gum could easily pull some of that pigment off, or completely denude the area.

The kid putting the wad of gum on the painting deserves a lot more than a stern talking to, and the comparison to defacing your home's paintjob and your reaction is probably pretty accurate.

That is very interesting, I never realized/thought of friction. You learn something new everyday. Thank you!

Lakes below the mountains
Flow into the sea
Like Juicy Fruit applied to canvas
They permeate through me

Or am I getting my songs mixed up?
