Depends on what you are looking for.

Hubby and I did an all-inclusive near Playa del Carmen, Mexico (with the help of a very friendly BN travel agent, NJPhinPhan).

We stayed at a resort called Barcelo Maya and had a blast. Nothin' fancy, but tons of fun!

If you're looking for really exotic there are a few of us around here who have been to some very distant off the map places. I guess I mean that two ways with this crew. :P

What are you looking for? How much time do you have? And what type of budget are you working with?

Sorry I wasn't more specific:

We have 10 days, prefer adults only, and have a budget of roughly 5 to 7k. Looking for a place that is all inclusive for that place.

thanks again.

Mots, I would have said Hawaii, but given your refined desires, I'd actually recommend against Hawaii. Unless some of the travel agents among us know something I don't, I don't think there are many, if any, all inclusives in Hawaii. It's still a great place for a honeymoon, IMHO, but it may not fit as well with what you want as some other places.

Are you looking for a lot of sightseeing and things to do? (If so, what type of stuff?) Or would you rather just sit (or lay, or whatever  ) on a beach all day?

We are mostly looking to just relax on the beach and do whatever :)

Basically I would like somewhere that isn't a 'popular' place. Something that is almost a hidden treasure. I thought you guys would probably know better than anyone.

Thanks again

If you don't want any services, there's a cool secluded cottage on the water in Molokai. But you'd be cooking for yourselves.

check out this website: www.eliteislands.com

they have some real nice properties and they are all all inclusive. I'm not sure they'll fit your budget though unless you're going off season.

You can also check out this web site: www.Luxurylink.com

You're never sure what you'll find there but they really do have some good deals.

I advise Biras Creek on Virgin Gorda in the BVI. The price is just right, and it includes all meals (although does not include alcoholic drinks, which can add up....) You stay in your own little cabin with a beautiful view of the ocean. The resort has a decent beach for hanging out or windsurfing or sailing on hobies. Also, you can take dinghies around and explore other beaches and practically deserted islands. www.biras.com

I've been to many islands, both in the Pacific and the Caribbean, and I like the BVI best. I think they are the best compromise between truly getting away from it all, yet still offering a fun and upbeat atmosphere. Also, you can be as active or passive as you want. Scuba diving and sailing, or just lying on the beach with a painkiller. The beauty of a place such as Bora Bora is unparalleled, but it's so darn quiet after about 7 pm. The BVI has fun, low key beach bars.

For more on the BVI, go to www.scubamom.com or www.traveltalkonline.com

Another option for you, if you want something more out of the way and remote --
The Firefly on Mustique in the Grenadines. The Grenadines are more "undiscovered" than the BVI and definitely harder to get to, thereby giving them more of an exotic flavor. I've never stayed at the Firefly, but recently had a delicious dinner there. It is more of an inn than a resort - only 4 rooms. But it offers full and easy access all over the island via a golf cart and the price also includes all meals. If you're going during the "off" season, it's close to within your budget. They also have a honeymoon special that might work. www.fireflymustique.com

Mustique itself is a beautiful island if you're not familiar with it. It only has one other hotel, the Cotton House, and is otherwise occupied by large villas owned by celebrities. There is one bar on the island, Basil's, which has a traditional beach bar atmosphere.

I prefer the BVI for reasons stated in my earlier post, but Mustique might be better for honeymooners.

Come to think of it, you might just prefer to rent a villa on Mustique - they come with chef and butler - and are surprisingly affordable during the off season. http://www.mustique-island.com/

I always think that I should be a travel agent, or write for Islands Magazine, instead of what I actually do.... Nothing is more fun than planning vacations, preferably your own, but others' as well!

Couldn't agree more with smartwomanshort skirt about the bvi.

Biras creek is actually listed on luxurylink too, so you may be able to go at a discounted rate if the timing of the honeymoon matches up with the special offer.

I would suggest that you consider Costa Rica. There are a number of great resorts there that offer inclusive packages, as well as offering cottages on the beach. Costa Rica offers a lot of other things besides great beaches, volcanos, river rafting, horse back riding, fishing, exploring rainforests, night life, great food and not too many crowds.

Spent the first 6 days of my honeymoon at Peter Island Resort. It is an 1800 acre private island in the BVI. Very remote and relaxed. After a year of wedding planning my wife and I just wanted to totally wind down the first half of our honeymoon and this was the perfect spot.
