When I think of the drama that was Game 6-1991, how can you not help but sing his praise. Going up and over the wall and grabbing that ball, the 11th inning home run......wow.
He came from the Robert Taylor Homes in Chicago, the worst of the Chicago projects and made a name and a man of himself. He was flawed, of course. Very few came out of that type of existance without some wounds. But think about it, after hitting the ultimate glory in 87 and especially in '91, and then having it all taken away by glaucoma (sp?) while still pretty much in his prime. How could anyone deal with that.
Today is for remembering all that was good. We can deal with the rest another time

I loved him as a player, but I was so dissapointed to find out he was not as much of a class act as he had everyone believe.

That was 3 years ago.. some folks make mistakes.. and change. IMHO, today is not the day to bring it up.
