Looking for a Buffett song

Been looking for a while. Someone's gotta' know.

Back in the late 80's I bought a 12" vinyl record - of course I have no clue what the name of the record was. It was a JB record, I do know that; it was also a single record, not a double "live" recording. But I remember it having a pinkish/beige color folder - note: it wasn't changes in lat/attitudes (I looked through it's song lists, and listened to them). No idea when it was made either.

One of the last songs on the record is the one I'm looking for. It was a "foreign" song - I remember it either had foreign words in the chorus, or it was about meeting a foreign lady. I remember it as a slow type love song.

And that's all I remember about it. God I hope I'm not sending anybody on some wild goose chase. And again, I'm about 99.9999% sure it was a Buffett record - unless I've gotten senile in my 30's.

Click on the link below, you'll see thumbnails of his albums/cds. Click on each thumbnail for a song list and see what looks familiar.

You are probably talking about Hot Water. It has a song with James Taylor called L Air De La Louisiane.

L'AIR DE LA LOUISIANE
Jesse Winchester
Promenade dans un bois la vielle Louisiane
Les ombres lougnes nos pas silents
l'air de la Louisiane
Toi et moi ne parlant pas
en sucant d'la canne
Pour un instant je suis content en
l'air de la Louisiane
Pour un instant je suis content en
l'air de la Louisiane

English Lyric
A walk in the woods of old Louisiana
the shadows are long
Our steps are silent in the Louisiana air
You and I say nothing as we s*** sugar cane
For one minute I'm happy in the Louisiana air

Unfortunately no. Hot Water's too recent though, I don't think they would've made an vinyl for that.

Another foreign song is on One Particular Harbour.

It is one Particular Harbour.

Also on Floridays, Jimmy sings in Portuguese on First Look

FIRST LOOK
Jimmy Buffett

Fun tickets in my pocket, visions in my brain
Grand father always told me it I went down
I might never come back again

I studied the language tapes
And I read all the books
Still nothing prepared me for my
Very First Look

(CHORUS 1)
It was my First Look
Baby that's all it took
Was my First Look
Around

I think I want to go flyin'
But I don't want to leave the ground
So I'll just cruise on my landing gear
And taxi round Rio town
Up to the mountain, down to the sea
Take me to Leblon where the samba queen
Waits for me

(CHORUS 2)
It was my First Look
That's when I swallowed the hook
On my First Look
Around

Amora premiera vista
Voce no kier queo insisto
Amora premiera vista
Reacion quimica

Amora premiera vista
Voca no kier queo insista
Amora premiera vista
Reacion quimica

(INSTRUMENTAL VERSE)

Six days later I was felling like a missing link
When my friends told me hey Jimmy
It must have been the hoodlum drink
Now it's time for siestas
And a belly full of rice and beans
And figure if I'm brave enough
To repeat the whole crazy scene

(CHORUS 3)
On my First Look
That's when I swallowed the hook
On my First Look around

Amora premiera vista
Voce no kier queo insista
Amora premiera vista
Reacion quimica

Amora premiera vista
Voca no kier queo insista
Amora premiera vista
Reacion quimica

I have it on vinyl, but it is not flesh color. It is mostly aquamarine?!

one more foreign song could be Desperation Samba from Last Mango in Paris.

Don't know where I'm going
Don't like where I've been
There may be no exit
But hell I'm going in

Yo quiero a bailar en Mexico
Do the desperation samba con nos amigos
Yo quiero a bailer en Mexico
Do the desperation samba con nos amigos

Hear the people singing the same old
haunting tune
I drink because I know it's me against the moon

Yo quiero a bailar en Mexico
Do the desperation samba con nos amigos

Sorry, I didn't see your post. Good suggestion.

I am thinking it was probably a promo of some sort, but I can't remember any promo even with a different color album cover.

I also have Hot Water on vinyl. If I'm not mistaken the last Buffett album to appear on vinyl was Off to See the Lizard.

"Chanson Pour Les Petits Enfants" from Volcano would have been my guess also.
