but this is a slippery slope. Other players have broken the law for numerous things without it resulting in a suspension from baseball. If you suspend him for this without a failed test it feeds right into their notion that this is a witch hunt.Cubbie Bear wrote:Barry's "friend" illegally bought roids from AIDS patients getting them legally. Right there is all of baseball's problems boiled down into two words. Bring back Fay Vincent, appoint Bob Costas (too smart to want it, I'm sure), or give the job to a former player like Henry Aaron or Frank Robinson. Hell, a vacant seat would be better than what Selig has done to the game.Cubbie Bear wrote:Commissioner P u s s y

Slippery slope is an understatement. If "Commissioner Pussy" (BTW great description) ever grew stones and addressed steroids, next he'd have to address amphetamine use and abuse. That could shut down our great past time. It's ALL about $$$$$$$$- Money for the owners, players, MLB, endorsements, etc, etc, etc....RAGTOP wrote:but this is a slippery slope. I would love to see Cal Ripken as the next Comimssioner. Players would respect him.chippewa wrote:Right there is all of baseball's problems boiled down into two words. He's not mean enough... they need an a**hole who's not afraid to p*** people off... kinda like Barry Bonds, but he's tainted goods.RAGTOP wrote:I would love to see Cal Ripken as the next Comimssioner. I don’t know? Interesting thought. Would an ex-player be too tainted to rule fairly for the game? Is Bowie Kuhn still kicking someplace? Bowie had balls. Remember when he called off the trade between the Red Sox and A’s in, “the best interest of baseball?”RAGTOP wrote:I would love to see Cal Ripken as the next Comimssioner. most players would be too tainted... Ripken wouldn't. I would go as far to say that he is one of the most respected people in baseball past and present. He would have nothing but the best interest of the game.Tequila Revenge wrote:I don’t know? Interesting thought. Would an ex-player be too tainted to rule fairly for the game? Huge revelation with Bonds.
I think Ripken or Frank Robinson would be great.
Would anyone else agree with me that of the MLB, NBA, NHL, and NFL, David Stern seems to be only commish actually doing a decent job?

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar
