2006 and we are getting closer....

to the end of the world......Jimmy charging $126 for reserved seats.

My first view of Jimmy was 29 years ago and ticket cost about $10.

I've seen him at least once a year since then.

Not this time........memories are great, but I remember him being better for $10........

Glad you made it Jim.......I'll just use my money having a drink down in the Keys while people sit in overpriced seats listening to songs about them.

So what makes this so special that it deserves its own thread, and doesn't belong in the 40 bajillion other ticket prices threads?

People haven't refrained from making duplicate threads before, not sure what would stop 'em now.

Didn't see that in phjim's list of everchanging "rules" but I did see this:

I guess it's like the namecalling thing ("Lt. Hauk" ring a bell?), it just depends on who's doing it as to whether it's worthy of enforcing or not.

hehe, regardless of where he posted it, he does have a point though. Shame with the cost of things these days, and shame that I am planning to spend big bucks on the concert and go to key west this year. Persephone is going to be broke.

That May Be Your Opinion - Here's Mine...

No one likes spending money. It's just a choice of whether you wish to spend the $ on Jimmy Pavillion seats or not. $36 for a lawn seat to THE best party of the summer is clearly a bargain and $136 to stay out of the rain, if it rains, are well worth it in my opinion.

I think most of us who belong to this board are members because we're huge Jimmy fans. Some of us think it's worthwhile to spend the $, a few of us don't.

Some of us will pay $300-$500 to pay a round of golf at Pebble Beach. Some of us think that golf is a slow form of torture that we should be paid to endure

Some of us think Corona is a divine nectar, some us us think it's horrid, nasty stuff...

All just personal opinions/choices. If it's your opinion that you now wish to refrain from shows, that's your right. Just as it's my right to be happy that I'm not competing with you to get a coveted Pavillion seat to a show.

Oh yeah...Jimmy hasn't financially needed to tour in quite a while...If he feels it's not worth giving up the majority of his summer touring around the country, he can elect to stop touring. Again, just a personal choice based on his opinion.

Fortunately Jimmy hasn't YET made that choice. As for me, I'll be glad as heck to spend a few hundred dollars to see Jimmy a couple times a summer as every Jimmy show, in my opinion, creates memories that are priceless to me in many ways.

So, enjoy your drink in the Keys where it's very easy to find people at every bar singing Jimmy's songs. However, in my opinion it's not even close to being the the same experience as dancing on a summer night to the songs played live with the spectacle that is JB and the CRB....

Plus those cover guys don't sing gems like Jolly Mon, Schoolboy Heart, Great Heart, Last Mango, Weather is Here, etc...

That's correct. I was thinking of his previous band. Speaking of which, I highly recommend their album Scatterlings.

"Old Person Voice" - "I remember back in the day when Jimmy Buffett used to pay people to watch his show....you young whipper snappers just don't get it. Quit your whining and be thankful that he still tours."

Someday all the money in the world won't get you a Jimmy Buffett ticket. Play on Bubba.....SEE YA IN PITTSBURGH. I for one have no problem paying close to $300 for two tickets. It has been three years since I have seen Jimmy in concert.

..and as long as people continue to adopt that attitude the ticket prices are only going to get higher.

I wish everything was still the same price it was when LandsEnd saw JB for the first time 29 years ago.

I loathe the day when you can get a $10 ticket to see JB in an off strip casino in Vegas when he is 80ish and super fat...

Larry, just saw a pic we took of you in LV at Mvill with the hot hot hot cocktail waitress when we all had lunch...we need some LV shows in the fall

Yes! And at that point, it'll be $500 for a pair and jbfinscj won't be so willing. I remember $50 for a pair was OUTRAGEOUS. meh, times change, he has a family to take care and damn it if it isn't his money to earn every last penny that's owed. I don't take JB as someone who EVER left money on the table.

Even if I can't afford the tickets (and the food, booze, room&board, transportation all while taking time off of work), I'm glad he's still touring so we have something to b**** about. When he's gonel, I'm gone.
