Which best describes you?
1. Yes I am a pirate
2. A son of a son of a sailor
3. I have stout sailor's legs
4. Other: _______________
For any and all of the above, I've got exciting news! Well, I think so anyway! How would you like to set sail on a tallship when you're in Chicago for the National BuffettNews Gathering on July 15th?
I've contacted the people at Tall Ship WINDY, and they offered a discounted rate of $17 per parrothead for 1.5 hours of sail training,
if we get a big enough group together. They are mailing me a contract.
We could either set out on a course for adventure on Friday evening at 7pm, or Saturday morning at 10am. Which you would prefer? Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band will be playing at Castaways on North Avenue Beach from 1pm to 7pm on Saturday 7/15. The tallship departs from Navy Pier.
A 50% deposit would be due May 1st, so I will have to get commitments and deposits from everyone who will plan on participating.

so if "someone(s)" decides they can go to the National Phlocking at the last minute - would that "someone(s)" still be able to get on the ship if they're not pre-registered???

Yes, I believe so, but I'll confirm when I see the contract.
It seems to me it should be something that I reserve for approx so many, then give the final number shortly before, or the day of.

I'm guessing that BN'er does not have a 150' four master. I'd love to be in but I may have a conflict with another cruise. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

For the prices given, we need a minimum 50 people.
Anyone else interested?

When do you need to know? I'm still trying to figure out if the weekend is do-able in the first place but this might tip the scales WAY in favor of going.
I'm a newbie coming on my own - I'm hoping this group is as friendly as you sound.

We are! I think!

Hopefully no one is forced to walk the plank!
They originally told me I need a deposit in by May 1st, but I don't want anyone to send me money unless we have enough people committed. (To attending, not institutionalized!

Some of my co-workers would go with the second choice there!
THANKS!

Capt Cougie & I vote for Sat AM, not sure we can make it to Chicago by Friday at 7 PM. But count us in and we have been sailing.
