Puerto Vallarta
I am looking for advice from fellow parrotheads who have spent time in PV. I asked for advice went I went to the Bahama's and parrotheads gave me a few sneaker spots. I hope someone can help in MX.
We've stayed at the Marriott Casa Magna (beautiful with wonderful swim up bars in the pool and nice pool out toward the sea. We played golf at the Marina Golf Course. Also in the area is El Faro Lighthouse. Great bar and food.
We are older and it's been about 10 years since we have been there. Lots has changed I'm sure.

We also enjoyed a place called El Set up in the hills above downtown. The malecon is interesting and a fiesta atmosphere.
Last sentence on the site.
One of the main attractions that bring people to El Set is that it boasts one of the premier views in all of Puerto Vallarta.
Very true!

I agree about going to El Set, it has a terrific view. As for other things to do, well, it's mostly the beach and assorted bars near the beach. I wasn't impressed with the sunset cruise but others may have a different view on it. The one warning I would give you is that if you are staying Nuevo Vallerta remember that it is in a different time zone and so you have to adjust everything by an hour, including what time you leave for the airport!

South of PV (10 miles, maybe?) and east of Mismaloya up a dirt road, there are 2 cool jungle restaurants along a river that cascades through jungle and rocks. The first one you get to is Chico's Paradise and farther up the road(literally!), there's El Eden. Probably some good pictures on the internet. Bring your bathing suits and Teva sandals for wading and swimming, you'll want to be hanging out for several hours. I heard that El Eden has Jungle canopy slings now. You can get there by renting a car or by taking a bus to Mismaloya and then a cab up to the restaurants. Oh, Mismaloya's quite beautiful, too! A few palapa bars in a bay with colorful pangas lying about.
Another cool day trip........Yalapa! to .....You catch the cheapest pangas for Yalapa behind a dive/surf shop along the Malecon....it's on the beach side, sorry, don't remember the name of the shop. But it's in the older, downtown part of PV, not where all those high rise resorts are located. There are lots of other boats going to Yelapa, but these pangas are the ones that the locals take and are the cheapest we found.
Oh, west coast of Mexico, so beautiful! I'm leaving for Mazatlan Sunday......been there? Haven't been there for about 20 years and I'm looking for some cool tips, as well!
Hasta luego!
