Oh yeah, you can drink all you want on the lawn. But I'm sure many folks in these forums will pass along this very advice - front-load in the parking lot! The lines for beer will be ridiculous (I've tried to time beer runs for lame songs. Once the I hear first few notes of "Simply Complicated", I make a mad dash to the beer lines, but it's usually so long I miss not only that song, but the next 3 or 4), as will the lines for the men's room (In which you're bound to see some females sneaking in to use the stalls in groups of 4. Sounds crazy, but it WILL happen). Boy, I rambled there - to sum it up, yes, you can drink in the lawn, but the lines will be long, and you'll likely be paying $9 or so a beer. It's better off to front-load in the parking lot!

As for the tailgating, I've heard that policy as well, but I've been to several shows over the year there, and the enforcement of said policy usually consists of dopey high school kids in windbreakers and flashlights telling you to go inside. You say OK. They move on. You continue tailgating. Repeat. I've never been harassed any more than that. However, in reading the other posts, it seems like other folks have had worse experiences with law enforcement and security there!

And to respectfully dispute earlier statements, I'd suggest Tinley over Alpine Valley. I saw the worst Jimmy show I've seen there - bad sound, steep lawn, and if I remember correctly, there's a single two lane road that leads in and out of there. While you anticipate being stuck in the lot after the show for a while, we were stuck for, I kid you not, three and a half hours afterwards. It was a while ago, so improvements may have been made in that area, but I've always found Tinley to be a little easier to get in and out of, and the sound is OK (I believe they have sound ordinances they have to follow, so it's never ear-splitting), and I think someone already mentioned this, but there are video screens for the lawn seats. Plus, that's where the conga lines happen!

I've been to Tinley for the last so many years....8....10....don't remember!

But, yes, you can tailgate. We've never had a problem with security, police, or anyone telling us to go inside. People bring pickup trucks with sand and shovel the sand out on the parking lot! I've never seen anyone bothered.

Also, yes, the beer lines are LONG!! But you can drink on the lawn, that's where the party is!

By the way, this is my first post here!! :D
