Sure, songs such as Fruitcakes and Saxophones will probably have to be dropped altogether, but I think songs that horn parts were later added to like Margaretville, Fins, Volcano etc. will fare better without them.

They’re all awesome horn players, but were certainly overused I think.
"Saxophones" never had a sax on it to start with so....
Yeah, didn't you read the liner notes?

sorry, could't resist

The Living and Dying in 3/4 Time version of Saxophones from 1974 does have horns on it:

Horns on "Saxophones" by Billy Puett

Right from the LINER NOTES!

Not as many and not that large of a role as they have on the Meet Me In Margaritaville version, but they were there at the end!

even though he probably could, he might not be at liberty to say. there's a certain amount of professionalism that's expected at this level.

at least for the first KW recording session, in January, the horns weren't included.... I was in KW and saw who was at Shrimpboat; didn't see any of the horn players.... I figured if there were horn tracks, they were adding them later.....

i think this is a bad move.
some people say that songs like fins originally didnt have horns, thus they will sound better now. well, if you listen to feeding frenzy (or any old recording from that day) there ARE horn parts...they were just synthesized on a keyboard. i for one prefer the sound of real horns to synthesized ones. if they decide to take the horn parts completly out of the music (and not synth them), the songs will sound "empty." imagine listening to a classical piece after removing the brass parts.

yeah, i know. the curiosity in me wants to know, as a fan, and because folks like steve and amy and tc have made BN appearances. but, we should be respectful of whatever the reason is, and continue to support those musicians as soloists or whoever they may play with/for next.

Tom, I gotta disagree with you, buddy. What sources there are would have been professional enough to let the parties involved break the news, as Amy Lee did with her email.

Who knows maybe Jimmy is just pulling our legs again...remember earlier in the month he said he was taking the whole summer off??? Well look at the schedule

For Amy Lee just to go sounds a little fishy to me...plus I was looking forward to hearing Fruitcakes on this years tour :)

Anyways if it is true, I wish Amy all the best, and she will be missed

The email came from Amy Lee, so I'd say it's not a rumor, but a done deal.
