I have also met Amy Lee and T.C. on a few occasions and must say that I will truly miss both of them not only on stage but off. They were more than kind and approachable and I really enjoyed conversing with them but also their talents and their presence on stage. They not only sounded good but also seemed to enjoy every show as they moved in synch to the rythem of the beat. We will truly miss them and wish the best! This is a sad day for our household. Please support them in their endeavors. Good luck and God bless you Amy and T.C. Thank you for sharing your talents and for taking the time to talk to the phans.

This is definitely news I didn't want to hear.
Stizz, thanks for coming on with a personal view. Losing a job can be a crushing blow, but sometimes it brings about opportunities you never expected to have.
When I was working and the project we were working on got cancelled and our team all had to split up and find other work, I started listening to Jimmy Buffett at work to get over it. I doubt that will work in Amy's case.....
All the best to you and AmyLee! Keep in touch!

What happened to Krekel, Sykes, Deborah McCall, Barry Chance, Jay Spell, etc.? Now, those were
real Reefers.
Did Jay play Keyboard???
I think he is with Garrot Wilkins.

I saw and chatted with Jay Spell last Saturday night here in Ventura. He was playing with Alan Wright and they were rockin!

Ya'll do realize there was once a Coral Reefer Band without horns don't you? I myself was getting tired of the horns. I like the old concerts, when they were about the songs, not the music. If that makes any sense. I just like the stripped down sound. When there was actually a chance that you could here "They don't dance like Carmen" or "Incommunicado".

I agree. I think the horns were too much, especially live

Ditto.
Every year it seems that the production becomes more of a production....hopefully JB is going back to the roots ....

I know that I might catch some flack for this but the bottom line $$$ just increased for this tour. At least 2 less people to pay, house, feed during the tour, etc.. I hope that this was not the determining reason. I myself enjoyed the horns and what they brought to the show. This move certainly didn't keep the ticket costs down.

I remember when Fingers left and all the up roar about that. Somehow the band and shows went on, and we still enjoyed them.

Exactly! i will miss the full horn section for the songs that they belong on.But parrotheads have always adapted to the changes that jimmy has felt have been necessary for him to continue performing and recording. He just better never drop the mayer brothers, greenidge, utley, macdonald, or macanally.because they are the keys to his sound and intrigal components in the actual writing process.(at least for the past 18 years)

I wrote before hearing the news that I might skip the show for the first time since 1977.. getting sick of the same old crap. I said I'd just go where the sax chick was playing instead. How ironic. Okay Amy, where will you be playing???
I'll be there!!!!

I like that Pirate thingy too Stizz!

Thanks for the Jay Spell, update. He's the pride of Spivey's Corner, NC.
That post was mainly in jest but speaking of ex-Reefers, Keith Sykes was just through here on a solo jaunt as well as opening for John Prine.

There is no deep dark secret dirt here - I think his music was just moving in another direction, as seen in the last few albums. No CR horns on the latest recording sessions either. I suppose he wanted to change up the show, and after all it IS his band...
I expect several people here will welcome the change, and others will be upset, but life goes on. As Jimmy said to Amy: "It's been a Lovely Cruise". So no hard feelings, just some disappointment and one less paycheck in our household

Sorry - I like that pirate thingy.
Hopefully Amy (and TC) will be able to hook up with another tour if that's what they want, or else they will find something else to do.
We appreciate the support, and will continue to poke around here at BN, at least in the immediate future. Amy has made some great friends through her connection with JB, and she loves all you guys. (OK - well not like kissy gropey love, but you know what I mean)
Hope you all enjoy the tour this year, and we will let you know if there is anything interesting to report.
peace,
Steve
Steve, I just have to say, of all the guys in the world I envy, you're definately in the top 3.
Take care of that lovely lady, as I know she'll take care of you.
Love to you, Amy, and T.C., and thank you so much for the kindness and love you all extended to me over the years. It was truly THE lovliest of cruises.
Love & sunshine to all of you,
Garry

I enjoyed the horns as well. Amy on stage with Jimmy during Pirate was an awesome experience in concert, maybe not old school Buffett, but still a great experience.
I'm glad that I was able to discover Amy's solo projects through the CRB and look forward to her future projects.
It is JB's band and his choices. Maybe he will continue to scale back over the next few years as many have posted.
All things happen for a reason and things work out for the better. I'll keep checking Amy's website for future postings. Amy we'd love to see you come play a small venue like the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte. That would be an awesome experience!!!

Yes, was a time there was no horn section.
There was also a time it was just Jimmy and Fingers.
We all have a purist streak and Jimmy addresses that in each concert with his "stripped down" set. But I for one will truly miss the horn section.
The horn section for me was such an important part of making Jimmy's show a "show". It created a pulsating energy to many aspects of his music and brought the crowd to its feet with that emphatic assurance that the Jimmy's magical, musical, fun-loving Carnival had come to town .
Jimmy obviously has his reasons for this and it will probably have little effect on any of our decisions to travel great distances to see our favorite piped piper..nonetheless Amy and TC will be sorely missed. You were such an important ingredient in creating that "show magic". Thank you so much!!
PHins uP!

Amy is a great player, but....I hate the sax on Pirate...It never fit the song.
