Hey everyone! I'm heading to Jones Beach this saturday with 'Margarita Mac'! We have my tiki bar and curious how they feel about setting something like that up... and the 'liki tiki hut' (aka, bathroom).

sounds like you all are starting out early, 9am? right? I'm not sure when we're planning on heading over, but are camping right up the street! We'll be sure to look for you guys!

Thanks to Zuke for hooking me up with Tix last weekend, my wife and I will be joining all the BN'ers over by the bathrooms and beach just as we did in '04. Should be arriving around 9 am with cocktail in hand (red plastic cup of course), as they say if you're going to a party or leaving a party always take a traveller..

Looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone all over again and enjoying the good times sure to follow....

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT RULES ARE ENFORCED DURING BUFFETT TAILGATING AT JB? I know normally they are pretty tight there on a beach day but, i remember lots of fun a the concert in '04. Do they allow grills in the lot? how are they about drinking? I see nothing on the website.

Here's my experience from '04 (the weekend AFTER Labor Day...so not technically a summer holiday: they might be more anal this weekend, I'm thinking.)
We grilled and drank with no problem whatsoever (we had our colored plastic cups to conceal everything. However, now that I think about it, in the lot there will not only be concert goers, but people from all over the Island/Queens/Brooklyn/NYC going to the same lot (for Zach's Bay). They start charging for parking at 6 a.m., so I'm supposing that's when the lot will open.

if I remember correctly, they kept that closest lot for the concert/tailgating last year. tell them you're there for the show and you don't pay again for parking.

I don't remember paying for the adjacent lot in '04, but I think Jones Beach stops charging for parking on Labor Day; I THINK that's why we didn't pay. I'm going to try to get in w/o paying, and if we have to, we'll circle around & hit the West Bathhouse for a beach pass. The closest lot, I think, is the VIP/premiere parking lot; field 5 is to the stadium's right (that's where we're headed!) Only a FEW more days!! I've got my Excel spreadsheet of items to bring!!
