Have dinner at the Hurricane Hole/Hurricane Joe's resturant at Cow Key Channel. If you like Sushi, order it, it's fantastic... Tell Fred and Cindy hello for me...

Ride the Conch Train. Always a fun thing, and you learn something new every time

Get your picture taken by MM0

Go to Hog's Breath, sit under one of the web cams, and call people back at work have them log on. Then taunt them that you are in KW, and they are not

Image

Sunset festival. Say hi to the Silver Man for my lovely wife... I think she's secretly in love with him, she seeks him out everytime we are in town. Actually, she loves his little mutt (I did not say butt).

Image

The obvious, have lunch in Margaritaville Cafe. Much less busy at lunch time

Drink a beer at Sloppy Joe's. Buy the shirt...

Climb the lighthouse

Image

See Southernmost Point, take a picture, avoid the smelly alley by the hotel on the corner...

Take the elevator to the "top". Have a beverage while taking in the view...

Anyone else wanna add to the KW tourism stuff?

Oh, yeah, get yer CR passport...

Besides plenty of places to drink:

Live music: Hog's Breath, Conch Republic, Captain Tony's, Schooner Wharf, Sloppy Joe's, and if you want a wilder time, Irish Kevin's.

Hemingway House.

Lighthouse.

Sunset at Mallory Square.

Cuban food at El Siboney.

Breakfast at Pepe's on Caroline.

Lunch at B.O.'s Fishwagon on Caroline.

Have a drink at Louie's Afterdeck, overlooking the water, if not a meal at Louie's Backyard.

That's just off the top of my head.....

Never been snorkeling or on a sunet cruise, but others speak highly.

Search "Key West"... a couple of people have posted extensive lists of things to do in KW.

Lunch at Dennis Pharmacy, walk thru the Chicken Store, a beer at the Green Parrot, a beer at Capt. Tony's, hear live music everywhere, buy crap at Margaritaville store, happy hour margaritas at Kelly's, dinner at Blue Heaven, see the sunset. Let's see, that's nine...

another beer at Capt. Tony's.

I got an email that said Dennis' Pharmacy was closing so get there fast! And...the sunset cruises DO rock! Christmas Tree Island is too cool!

Dennis Pharmacy: the pharmacy part is moving to New Town, the diner managers are looking to relocate. There was a recent story at keysnews.com

My 10 in no particular order:

1. Sunset Cruise aboard the Western Union(Free T-shirt, liquor, and chowder!)

2. Grab a bite to eat at the Schooner Wharf Bar at the Historic Seaport, I recommend the blackened grouper sandwich.

3. The Original Key West Ghost Tour. Preferably the Old Town Tour but especially if Jason is that evenings tour guide. Be ready to Doom!

4. I whole heartedly second the above recommendation for El Siboney for their Cuban food. The specialty pork with black bean soup and fried plantains ranks as one of the best meals I've ever had in Florida.

5. Take a stroll through the Key West Cemetery, and observe the unique and fascinating tombstones.

6. You pretty much have to stop by Margaritaville, even if its just for a drink. If you don't you'll regret it.

7. Ditto for the Southernmost Point, it's kind of a rite of passage.

8. If anyone in your party likes cats, definitely hit the Hemingway House. Can't beat having 9 lives and living in Key West

9. The view from the top of the Crowne Plaza La Concha is quite lovely, especially around sunset. However, the last time I visited the top of the Key West Lighthouse, I was rewarded with naked sunbathers on the deck of a nearby dwelling. Take your pick :D

10. The Conch Train is a fun ride, although once was enough for me. Also a rite of passage deal.

Whatever you do, be sure to have fun, and take plenty of pictures for the rest of us poor souls who are still locked in the deep freeze of winter! Have a good trip 8)

all of these have been mentioned but are almost mandatory

Southernmost Point
Captain Tony's
Margaritaville
Conch Train Tour (be prepared to spend 35 bucks a piece)
Get some key lime pie somewhere
Schooner Wharf
Jimmy's Studio (next to Schooner Wharf)

heck ,after that I'd just walk around, window shop and wing it.

Definitely a case of to each his own. I don't set foot in Irish Kevin's.... Too loud for me; I prefer more laid back. :D

Skydive (tandem jump) over the keys (http://skydivekeywest.com/). Slightly pricey but worth every penny. It's a short drive up the keys to Mile Marker 17 at Sugarloaf Airport. I've done this twice and each time swore I would take lessons so someday I could free fall on my own. Still haven't done that (though someday I will). The view is incredible and the thrill is beyond description.

I think this was where they flew out of for the Wesley Snipes movie with Gary Busey and Yancy Butler.

I second Blue Giraffe for best key lime pie.

Best mojito: Conch Farm (aka Conch Republic Seafood), although I haven't been to the new Rum Barrel in Front St yet.

Best conch fritters: several good places, but I like Conch Farm and Hog's Breath.

There, all the food groups are covered. :P

One year I did this the film crew of a James Bond movie was also using the airport to film a skydive stunt where Bond dropped in full wetsuit into the seas. I believe it was one of the Timothy Dalton Bond flicks that had significant number of scenes set in the Keys. I talked with the crew and the stunt man (we were both waiting out a summer storm delay before we could jump) .... they spent 3 weeks there filming and made dozens and dozens of jumps to get what ultimately was only about 10 seconds of movie scene. Amazing.

I've been told the best Conch Fritters are actually at the "Soggy Dollar Bar" on Jost Van Dyke B.V.I.

Anyone up for a trip? We do have someone in the group with a new "house", maybe if we offer to bring the rum?

On KW, the best fritters are definetly at the Hog's Breath. If ya see Capt. Dan (Mobley) there, tell him TJ said hi!
