Inductions are political. Buffett will be inducted if and when Jan Wenner(sp?) says so. Sadly, I think it's turned into a joke.
Perhaps one of those "be careful what you wish for" deals.

My theory is that Cleveland and the Hall Of Fame would have a hard time handling all the tailgating from the Phlocking of the Parrothead Nation onto their fair city. Not to mention the run on Margarita mix, tequila, and Corona. :pirate:

If Buffett does end up getting nominated I think it will be because of Jan Wenner who seems to think pretty highly of Mr. Buffett. I say this because Buffett has largely been ignored in the pages of Rolling Stone until recent years.

As for the Bee Gees and the Jackson Five I think they both deserve to be in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Many don't seem to be aware of it but the Bee Gees had a very productive life back in the 60s as a pop/rock group, well before their "Saturday Night Fever" fame. The Jackson Five were also very instrumental in the early 70s at merging pop, R & B and rock. Please don't let Michael Jackson's shenanigans of the last decade or so overshadow the outstanding work he and his brothers created with the Jackson Five. Speaking for myself, when I was in school back then it was either the Osmonds or the Jackson Five. The Jackson Five were much cooler any day of the week.

I think Cleveland can handle it.....not sure about the Hall of Fame itself, but they have plenty of 'city-fest' things in the general area......it could be done....

But the induction ceremony is in the Waldorf Astoria in midtown Manhattan, not in Cleveland.

I know that, but the original poster was calling into question Cleveland's ability to handle the PH crowds that would show (up to see the exhibits they normally put up in honor of the inductees I would assume)...and to that point of their's, I was responding.

The area around the Rock Hall would make for an excellent tailgating party.

I maybe be a newbie here, but I can read.

Not to mention, the general public isn't likely to be able to afford the tickets to the induction ceremonies.

Can the general public even get them?

I don't know if they still do it, but for several years, the Rock Hall would hold a Gala at the same time and live broadcast the induction ceremonies.

I believe they can. At least this year the Hall held a raffle for a pair but the raffle tix were $100 a piece.

I'm not sure if they do or not. I know in the very early years there was no television broadcast at all but it was carried on closed circuit if my memory serves. I do recall Neil Young saying the whole thing went to sh*t once the VH1/MTV broadcasts began.

well, Burke is still a working airport; but it could be good. and there is the parking lot around the Coastie station there between BKL and the R&R HoF. And the Coasties are good at lifesaving if anyone goes into the Lake.. :)
