I am very interested in joining a Parrot Head club in or near NYC. Anyone know of one? I already do a lot of community work and would like to do it with a group of parrot head friends. I checked Parrot Heads in Paradise and there is nothing in the NYC area.
Some of you may have seen my other posts asking about fan clubs, etc.
Please note, i am looking for an actual parrot head club not just a fan club with news and tickets. If there isnt one, anyone in the area interested in starting one up? I can think of a few things that we can do.
I think its time for some Changes in lattitude and attitude here in the NY area.

I live in Queens which is NYC but actually on the same land mass as Long Island and I have a car so looks like this club will work out great for me. I also live next to a subway station and would be OK with driving people to "outings" if they need a lift. I look forward to see what things the club is up to.. maybe they will be interested in joining some of the charity walks i participate in here in nyc.
I am not sure why i didnt see it listed on phip.
Thanks.

My phriends, I would love a club based right on the island of manhattan….. I fear most New Yorkers take themselves too seriously to be real parrotheads, although I have recently come upon a bunch of sailors who like Buffett (although not sure if it's love enough to join a PH club)….. I am a PH who lives in Battery Park City, because I have a great view of the boats on the water, and it grounds me. Anyway, who else is interested in a Manhattan (or at least subway-accessible borough) based parrothead club??

I live in Westchester and have not joined the Metro's because of their location. When JB did the Coastal Confessions movie cast, I thought I would ask some of the people about doing a local thing, but there were only 6 of us in the theatre.

we could do that...first thing we have to do is figure out how to reach more people
ie: see if we could get list of Margaritaville Coconut Telegraph subscribers for Manhattan or NYC (difficult and iffy...apparently they rarely answer inquiries of any sort...lol)
....talk to the Metro club about spliting off the City contingent, for obvious reasons....(who knows?)

another thought...if anyone of us is going to Mohegan or Jones Beach concerts, maybe have fliers or signs seeking NYC parrotheads...in the pre concert parking lot...

i think these are all great idea.. Why not hook up with the "metro area" club and have meetings in manhattan in addition to the meetings they already have? I checked the website looks like they meet once a month. Maybe they would be open to having a second meeting each month in Manhattan so even more people can join. I think we might have a better club if we link on to an existing one.. thoughts?

Anyone want to just pick a night and meet up in Manhattan? We can post a time and bar and see who is interested... I know a few places in the Manhattan that could work.

There is a meeting already in manhattan of the metro club.. according to their site, I plan to check it out...:
"The Club has several gatherings in local areas. Monthly "Happy Hours" are held on the 2nd Friday at the Chelsea Grill (8th Ave. & 16th Street in Manhattan) and at other times in CT. On Long Island, it's 3rd Sat. of the month (7PM to 10 PM), at Fins Pub in Oakdale, exit 48 (Locust Ave) on Sunrise Highway. The Club also has gatherings in the METRO North area (2nd Thursday of each month) and the New Jersey Area (2nd Saturday of each month) locations often vary and information is provided in the monthly newsletter. Club parties, picnics, and barbecues, along with other events are held throughout the year at various locations. Showing concern for the environment, the Club has "adopted" Manatees in FL., Route 114 (East Hampton, NY) and Sea Bright Beach (NJ) where we pick up litter and often have a party afterward. Other charities & volunteer events are supported during the year."

the VP for NYC complained a week or so ago that the monthly meeting attendance was decreasing.....
