Your local Radio Shack will have the little Sirius 1 unit for $50. $15 activation fee, and $36 for 3 months is right at $100, which is not bad to try it for 90 days. Go for it, you'll never turn back...fruityparrothead wrote:I'm thinking of getting Sirius.....I was looking at the site today. I just can't decide whether to take the "plunge" or not.....hmmmmmm :-?

I listen to Radio Margaritaville 10 hours a week commuting, 30+ hours at work (damn conference calls and meetings), and probably another 10-15 hours a week at home. For 200 or so hours of entertainment...$12.95 isnt much!

For the longest time, it seemed like a waste of money. After less than a day, it was the best money I was spending. I can't imagine life without Sirius.MikeInNOLA wrote:I agree!Zuke wrote:Join the Revolution!fruityparrothead wrote:I'm thinking of getting Sirius.....I was looking at the site today. I have had Sirius for about a year now. I will never listen to regular radio again. I listen to it everyday, a few hours a day. It is great for long trips cause i dont have to worry about dropping the signal and having to find a new station. I can also listen to my country music now cause here in Jersey there are no country radio stations. The Buffett Buffets are great and i tune into them every day! I got the kit for my car, for the home stereo sytem and the boombox. I love it, i can get out of the car and bring the unit inside and listen to it again. And the boom box is great for the beach and pool. I would really recomend getting it. I have the Sportster unit which has playback for up to 43 minutes.

Both XM and Sirius spent a ton on advertising and promotion prior to Christmas/Stern. The cost of receivers dropped considerably...last summer, they were running $149 with a $50 rebate. I think both XM and Sirius cut prices on receivers to draw subscribers. Both stocks should come back...at least Sirius better!!jackiesic wrote:LIPH wrote:I wish I had, it's in the tank now.

Yea but since RM has gone to Sirrus it sucks monkey balls ( no shane not yours) 13 bucks a month is not worth RM, they would have to pay me 13 bucks a month to have that on my choices.gingerbreadman wrote:ya, yaA Balding Fan wrote:I woulda got Sirrus but when RM went to Sirrus, RM to to total HELL If I wanted total Hell I woulda got nothing and just listened to Chicago Radio al the time.

there are s50 receivers on eBay for about $150, and those let you put mp3s into the mix too for the times when you are wanting something different in the form of ear-worms.tjtryon wrote:Your local Radio Shack will have the little Sirius 1 unit for $50. $15 activation fee, and $36 for 3 months is right at $100, which is not bad to try it for 90 days. Although, listening to baseball, nascar or nhl is probably cheaper than taking Ambien

About 43 cents a day for lots of great content. Hard to beat.MikeInNOLA wrote:I agree!Zuke wrote:Join the Revolution!fruityparrothead wrote:I'm thinking of getting Sirius.....I was looking at the site today. I just can't decide whether to take the "plunge" or not.....hmmmmmm

As far as the S50, it won't let you listen to "Live" Sirius. If you are looking at portable Sirius, wait until the summer, there will be the offering for a portable that will be able to pull the live satellite feed. That's all but been officially announced by Sirius.RinglingRingling wrote: there are s50 receivers on eBay for about $150, and those let you put mp3s into the mix too for the times when you are wanting something different in the form of ear-worms. :D

Not sure I follow you. It doesn't take satellite feed at all?tjtryon wrote:As far as the S50, it won't let you listen to "Live" Sirius. I have the s50, what it does is records while attached to the car dock or home dock, then you can take it as a separate attachment for playback.RinglingRingling wrote:Not sure I follow you. I love the thing, I record Stern and take it to the gym, plus you can put cd's on there, and if you are listening to a song on a music channel, push the heart button and it records it to the player.
