At least people discussing, whining, whatever you call it about ticket prices is more related to the forum than basketball or other sports....
Because those threads are correctly and appropriately (most of the time) posted in the Off Topic forum, where they belong. OT is for non Buffett discussions. And there aren't multiple threads on the exact same topic. Apples and oranges, IMHO.

No one is saying you can't discuss or complain about TM, ticket prices, venue issues, whatever...but why do so many folks feel the need to start a new thread every time they have a comment, instead of posting to the existing threads on the very same topic? To me it is arrogance, thinking that what you have to say is more important and therefore deserves its own thread. That might not be the intent but that is sure how it comes across. Then again, maybe folks are just too damn lazy to look for the existing threads. :-?
Pick a thread...almost any thread...and if it was initially posted as Buffett related, it typically takes a diversion into talk about pie, dating a shirt, etc....usually with a moderator or two chiming in.

In my opinion...which is worth about .02 cents, these discussions have been as Buffett related as any others.
Mike, where did I mention anything about threads going off on tangents? They all do, most of the time we manage to bring them back. Heck, you did it in this thread.

My point is that there really is no need to start a NEW thread on a topic that already has so many existing threads.

My point was directed towards the "Because those threads are correctly and appropriately (most of the time) posted in the Off Topic forum, where they belong. OT is for non Buffett discussions." . In my opinion, this thread has been pretty much Buffett related.

I'm very cool with fans stating all opinions but I do agree that there doesn't need to be 20 different threads on complaining. One or two threads will be just as good as 10.
I'll admit that I was a bit shocked when I found out seats were $126 a piece. That's not because I wouldn't pay it (which I did by a pair of seats to Charlotte and a lawn to Atlanta) but that I have seen Jimmy each year since 2001 and never paid over $65 for a ticket. It was just the $61 jump in price from last Feb. that startled me. With that being said, I wanted to see him so I bought tickets. Take WDWGDAS, brown eyed girl, etc. out of the setlist and it will already be worth $126 a ticket for me not to have to hear those. If the setlist is typical of past tours, then I won't be buying the expensive seats next year as it won't be worth it to me. I usually get my tickets at an outlet (that doesn't do that stupid lottery system) and I always get tickets. If I had to rely with ticketmaster.com, I'd probably get shut out like a lot of people.
Unfortunetly, I doubt ticket prices will drop because even with no fans buying tickets, scalpers will still cause JB's shows to sell out every time. So as long as Jimmy puts some good songs in the setlists each year, I'll be willing to pay for them unless they just get too espensive ($200 a ticket is my cut off).

Jimmy, if you're reading this - save us! Add some more dates, lower tickets prices by 10% and make sure there are mid-price pavilion seats available. Then we can all get back to talking about the music and lifestyle. :)

Wow, tickets are that expensive? to be perfectly honest with everyone, the cost of a ticket never even entered my mind when I went looking for them. My wife and get on line and try to buy as many as possible. Walking through the parking lot before the show, seeing old friends who know you will be there, is worth the price alone. It's not Jimmy's fault that some people don't want to or can't buy tickets.Think about it,
if you sold 18,000 tickets in about 2 minutes, would you lower prices?
And don't hand me this brain-washed parrot head crap. I am not a Parrot head and never have been. I was seeing Jimmy long before there were Parrotheads. This is more of a case of "one either gets Jimmy, or one does not" taken to the extreme.
It is important enough that my family and friends want to go every year.So we go.
I have one friend I have had for 26 years. I see him a couple of times a year. But, I always see him at a Jimmy Buffett concert. That alone is worth the price.

Man...

I sure wish there were tickets for a Florida show - at any price!

Consider yourselves lucky to have obtained tickets, or to have had an opportunity to purchase them at any price - there are hundreds and hundreds of thousands of us that did not!

You (ticket holders) are the chosen few - I'm envious!

Regarding TM - we all better hope they don't figure out how to auction the seats off - they tried that in a couple of events and I'm not sure why they have not implemented it across the nation yet.

If they do. I believe we could see floor seats go for $500; 250 for 1st level; 200 for a 2nd level; 150 for lawn etc. etc..

If they let the "market" sort it out - 126.00 for a ticket is going to look like chicken feed - real quick!

TM is not even close to charging what they "could" charge for seats to Jimmys shows - not even close - and they would still fill the stadium; parking lot and hotels with people happy to be a part of it at any price!

Where's those Florida dates?

SAK

I don't doubt that. But that means an awful lot of people can't be a part of it.

You know, the spirit of brotherhood (and sisterhood) we Buffett fans are all so quick to proclaim seems to be rapidly evaporating. We're polarizing into haves and have-nots, those with tickets and those without. The military has a policy of "no man left behind" - maybe it's time we adopted a No Fan Left Behind policy.

Well I spent my Satruday morning reading this news instead of the world news. Wow people....how many cases of Midol do we need here and can we throw in some cheese too?

Remember you do what YOU want to do. Simple as that.

Like I said before ...if you are a smoker....you continue to pay $5 a pack. An when someone asks you why do you smoke and pay that price. Your reponse is: Because I like it and I'll do what I damn well please! (How many smokers are out there that are 'discussing' ticket prices?)

Come on people it is life....deal with it, the way you are able to deal with it. You pay for what you want and need/desire. If you have to save for something you do. If you have to wait until next year you do. You do what you can or need to do.

And about the gas prices - someone please tell me why are are not getting our oil from Canada? Where they have oil.

Because you're not willing to pay enough for it. ;)

Huh? "I'm" not? Barrels are about the same price if not lower..

It was irony (or at least an attempt at it).

Well, you as in the United States. Much of our oil is found in Alberta, but they get the going rate for it - they don't even discount it because we're fellow Canadians. If "you" were willing to pay more for it (supply and demand), maybe they'd send more your way. Alberta is doing so well economically that everyone recently got a rebate cheque from the government.

Share the wealth, I say! (Remember who financed the exploration and the drilling and the infrastructure...)

I just wish some genius would come up with a way to sell tickets without letting scalpers have their way with us. :x

The price hike is not the whole problem, not being able to get tickets is what bothers me. :(

And I think the majority here would agree with that statement. I've never seen so many friends shut out of tickets from TM, and these are the people that I just *expect* to get tix because they always do.

The question that bothers me so: If so many of *US* got shut out on tickets, who exactly DID get them? :-? :-?
