Lemonade? Really? White, amber or dark rum? And how much lemonade to how much rum?col cairo wrote:I like it with lemonade or fruit punch. We call the lemonade drink rumonade.
Me, I'm a Demerara Rum (naturally) and Coke fan. Finished one off just a few minutes ago, actually. Might be time for another after I click "Submit".

With coke and lots of lime, please.
(Not too much lime though, or it overpowers everything else and make it too sour.)

Hey - just noticed your location. I'm drinking Young's "Old Sam" - I know it's from Newfoundland, but I discovered it a few years back on Prince Edward Island. I guess it's fairly common down east? It's hard to find here but mighty tasty!tikitatas wrote:On the beach, by the pool . . .

White rum and tonic is good.
Rum is very sweet, so tonic cuts through that sweetness a little.
I like it with a twist of lime, mostly for the aroma.

Never tried it, Demerara, but it's in all the stores out here. Ever have Barbadian Mount Gay or Cockspur? Very, very nice!Demerara wrote:Hey - just noticed your location. Ah yes, Mount Gay. One of my all-time faves. Haven't had any in a while. Used to drink Captain Morgan Spiced Rum back in the day, when we'd "sail with the captain". And I still remember the night a buddy and I found his dad's 151 proof rum. What a night that was. What a morning that was!tikitatas wrote:Ever have Barbadian Mount Gay or Cockspur? Very, very nice!

350 ml of 151 Bacardi
640 ml of Pineapple juice
10 ml of coconut extract
shake as needed.
wonderful "hi, howwahyuh" litre bottle to carry in the lots during tailgating.
of course, that, and a 500ml of good sippin' tequila and you'd be amazed at how folks from Savannah end up thinkin' "you know, he's not such a bastard after all"

At one time I only would drink the white rum, but I like also like it with the Captain. I have a friend who uses dark rum and a splash of coconut rum with lemonade.Demerara wrote:Lemonade? Really? I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

I haven't tried that, but it sounds fantastic!CandyLMT wrote:I have discovered (thanks to Z-man and Lacey) Dark Vanilla Rum... mmmmmmmmmm... good sippin' stuff
And I usually like my rum in a glass- with or without anything you want to mix it with, although Cruzan's Rum Cream is great in coffee or a glass, and Vanilla rum (the cheaper stuff's better- more sugar and flavoring to cover up the crappy rum) and Cream Soda taste like a butterscotch candy.

Lamb's Navy, Gosling's... Yes! I love the dark rums best. I got a bottle of Pusser's for my birthday last year, that was pretty sweet (and regrettably short lived)!Snowparrot wrote:DARK rum: Lamb's Navy, Gosling's, even Captain M...
