Charity to Donate 2 Tix - Phoenix

Post by Catch&Release »

I never thought I'd have so much trouble finding a taker for 2 tickets to the Phoenix show.

I have 2 pavillion seats that may go to waste as I have had no takers in ticket exchange after several weeks.

(Reminded to self - only play the Ticketmaster lottery if I know for sure that I'll be able to go to the show! )

I think I'd like to donate the tix to a Phoenix area charity as I think they're going to go to waste. I'm not really being altruistic as I'd rather have the tax deduction than wasting $300.

Does anyone know of a good charity in Phoenix that could use the tickets for either a silent auction or to entertain someone less fortunate who would really enjoy a Buffett show?

Please post any ideas below.

Thank you.

Albatross Flyer (Charlie) can give better information on this than I can, but based on personal reasons I think this would be a good one. :)

You may also want to contact United Way, since they are sort of a "clearinghouse" for a number of different type of charitible organizations.
Or Habitat for Humanity, SPCA, Hospice, or any charity to which you have a "personal connection."
Or use local Parrothead clubs...they may not want to auction the tix, but probably can help you sell them.

There are various fundraisers that are tax deductable, that will accept such donations to auction off, as fund raisers.

Perhaps one of the local Veterans groups would be interested in recieving them to use to auction off or to use as a raffle or something along those lines.

You can also consider your PBS station....

If you want to contact the President of the Arizona Parrotheads, I would be happy to pass the information on. I know they could (and would) put them up for charity, the bonus being they would probably get auctioned to a Parrothead. If you like this idea, PM me and I'll share her email address with you.

The local county non-profit that I work with, Big Brothers Big Sisters, sells items on ebay to add to our fundraising efforts. Current items include antiques, collectables, gift certificates, etc. Everything is donated to the agency and sold on ebay to support our programming efforts.

I am REALLY not a fan of people selling tix on ebay for the reason to make a buck, but would be ok if the tix were donated to the agency and sold at face value or slightly above by a non-profit.

If you'd like to contact me, I'd be more than happy to put you in touch with the executive director of our agency. She would be thrilled to add this item to our collection.

Oh yea, I should say that I am in Isabella County, MI, but the beauty of donating to us is that we can sell the tix on ebay worldwide and still have the funds come back to our local agency.

I'm thinking they could be put up with a "buy now" of face value.

Let me know if you're interested.
Love & Luck!

What about contacting the Phoenix PHC? I'm sure they would be able to auction them off to a fellow phan that wasn't lucky enough to score tickets for the show. If you made it known to them that you wanted the proceeds to go to a good cause, I know they support many of them and would probably be more than happy to try and help. Just an idea.

Thanks, Everyone

I was able to sell the seats to one of the members of our board for $100 below face value.

I think my lesson is a good lesson that, in my opinion, the fairly high pavillion seat cost does thwart scalping, to a degree.

I was leaning towards sending them to the local SPCA with a note that the tix were for 2 of their best volunteers to have a great night. However, the tickets have found a good home and I will never again play the ticketmaster lottery unless I'm pretty sure I can make the show.

Phins Up! I hate having to wait until the Tinley Park show to see Jimmy, but at least I'll be seeing him this year!
