Go to El Mercado, lots of shops and stop by Mi Terra for the sweet potato empanadas! The River Walk is very nice, take a boat tour. There's a bunch of cool stores and eateries on the River Walk and usually there's a band playing at night near the mall...I love SA!

This is like a trip to Mexico...

Market Square - El Mercado

514 W. Commerce (78207)
210-207-8600 | Fax: 210-207-4287

From early morning until late at night, Market Square is alive with activity. Visitors browse through the 32 shops at "El Mercado," an area patterned after an authentic Mexican market. In addition, there are 80 specialty shops in Farmers Market Plaza. Market Square is also the scene of many Hispanic festivals where food and beverage booths spring up alongside the Guadalajara lamps and the strains of mariachi music blend with the excitement of Mexican dances. Free admission. Hours: 10 a.m.-8 p.m., summer; 10 a.m.-6 p.m., winter. Stores closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day and Easter.

Try this restaurant near the Mercado.

Mi Tierra Cafe y Panaderia

218 Produce Row (78207)
(210) 225-1262
www.mitierracafe.com

24 hours daily

(Try their flan...yummm!)

The Eagle Train in Brackenridge Zoo is also fun.

Great suggestion on the candied sweet potatoes too....so unusual.

That is such a neat bakery to experience the Mexican flavor.

I have visited there, but had the benefit of a friend who lives there to take me around.

Alamo takes a few minutes ........ Riverwalk is pretty.

We went to Grueyne (sp) Hall - beautiful little town to walk around in and the drive there was really nice.
