Anybody that would pay $1500-$2500 to see Barbara Streisand (or anybody else for that matter) is sick in the head.

Guess it's a tour aimed at Babs' rich friends.
You won't catch me there. (But then, you wouldn't catch me there if tickets were $30.)

Furthermore...
If you have that kind of money to toss around, I hope you're giving some to charities as well.
I saw a thing on the food network (or some food show) recently and it was a piece on the $1000 Golden Opulence Ice Cream Sundae that is served at a restaurant in New York.

I mean c'mon! You could feed a small African village for a year on $1000. You've got nothing better to spend $1000 on than ice cream?

This has nothing to do with Jimmy Buffett... I'm trying to move it to Off Topic. If you see it locked, it's just because of my DDL... and I'll unlock it on "the other side"!

I guess Babs is charging so much so that Parrotheads won't be so spazzed about spening a measly $126 for a Buffett ticket!

She's the one that gave over the hill bands like the Eagles the idea for overcharging for concerts to start with. I believe it began with her "farewell" concert a number of years back in Las Vegas. Then, Don Henley got wind of the idea. It's all been downhill since, except for the bands that actually try to keep ticket prices down.

I wonder if the market can truly bear those prices? I just can't see 20 shows worth of people who are willing to fork out that kind of money...unless the promoters can turn it into some kind of "status symbol".
or maybe if they're 50-seat venues.

I enjoyed her singing and acting a LONG time ago - with her movies of "Funny Girl" and "Funny Lady" and "The Way We Were" and "A Star Is Born".
Once an 'actor' throws in politics? I kinda lose a little somthin' for 'em .

Richard Simmons would probably go to all 20.
Anybody remember when he was on Letterman about 5 years ago and Letterman says he has a huge surprise, introduces Barbra Streisand, and then Larry "Bud" Mehlman comes out and sings "Memories"? Simmons almost cried, it was great.

I attended the second Woodstock back in 1994 and there were rumors circulating that the Stones might make a surprise appearance. Shortly after arriving I made my way down to the main stage and an announcement was made introducing "Mr. Mick Jagger". Who else should walk out to near deafening applause but none other than Larry "Bud" Melman.

But wasn't that a benefit? I mean, high prices for a charity show are fine, but not so much when the b#$%^ is just greedy.

I never knew her target demographic was rich Republicans. Aren't they the only ones who have enough money to afford these prices?

That's what they'd have you believe.

I thought she was a Democrat. (which would be some fun irony

). Didn't she campaign (or publicly support in some way) Bill Clinton?

I don't know if she campaigned for Clinton, but she is a Democrat. I just love the irony of Streisand charging such high prices for concert tickets when it's the big bad Republicans who are supposed to only care about the evil rich people and the Democrats are always looking out for the little guy.
