State against State ... mate against mate ....

"State of Origin Football" - New South Wales V Queensland - best of 3 games in Rugby League.

Players, come back and play for the state they first played senior football in - where they were young teenagers. Regardless of what club they play for - so you have players who play in the same team, belting each other on different sides ...... its AWESOME!!!!!

ejr wrote:, in college football you can't beat Ohio State/Michigan-the natural rivalries usually end the season in college football so the game often means something big for one or both of those teams, and it is often an upset.

Bears v. Fudge Packers

Cubs v. Cardinals

It isn't much anymore, but back in the day the "War on 74" Illinois State University v Bradley Braves (yuk) was one hell of a time

Remember in high school how "your" team always had the big "cross town rivalry" with another team? At my school, our mascot was the Indians. The week we played our big rival was "Spirit Week" (and I guess Homecoming week, too...the memory is a feeble thing....) on that Friday, we'd paint our faces blue and gold (the school colors) and have a Pep Rally assembly, and everyone got, like, all riled up fer sher!

So the PM for the VAR that I'm working for in the VI played for the Red Sox back in '68... he has 2 favorite teams, the Red Sox, and anyone who beats the Yankees.

Have to go with the Chiefs/Raiders or the Chiefs/Broncos.

Most people here in KC (and I'm sure the rest of the AFC West) are known as "Raider Haters"

No problem, the way "Dollar Bill" Worst has handled the Blackeyehawks, they do not deserve to be in that group anyway
