I sure hope so!!! It's my favorite song off my favorite album!!!
I had a thread here a while back about what was Jimmy's most underrated album. I said Floridays and many folks agreed. Great album and he never plays anything off of it.
Definitely one of my favorite albums!
and although he's played a couple of songs from Floridays in recent years, they're not the strongest songs on the album
Floridays
MCA - 1986
1. I Love the Now
2. Creola
3. First Look
4. Meet Me in Memphis

He did play "I Love The Now" at most of his shows in '02. That is one of the stronger songs on this album. I have always liked Floridays (the song and album) and really enjoyed the new sampling of this that I heard. I'm probably in the minority, but I loved the new "In The Shelter" too. For me, once you've heard a song a million times, it's nice to breathe some new life into it by mixing it up.

Some people never find it, some only pretend; but me, I just want to live happily ever after every now and then.

You're not alone. I like the reggae version of "In the Shelter" as well but I still prefer the original. Oftentimes when artists try to spice up old favorites by giving them a new arrangement it doesn't work at all but in this case I think it worked just fine.
Jimmy has played a few from Floridays. I heard Creola back in '99 I think. Meet Me Memphis was in the set in 01. And I know I heard If It All Falls Down recently because I hoped he would go right into No Plane On Sunday, one of my favorite songs.
I think he'll pull out the new version of Floridays, with a new coat of paint as he liked to say about In The Shelter
My biggest fear is that when I die, my wife will sell all my Buffett stuff for what I said I paid for it!
You'll Never Work Is Dis Bidness Again isn't that great, but at least it's the last track, I usually skip it. Aside from that, Floridays is an amazing album.
"And now you’re here and the search comes to an end... I’ve found my long lost friend."
"In all his deepest dreams the Gypsy flies with sweet Melissa..."
George Strait in June, Kenny Chesney in July, and Jimmy Buffett in August... Looks like a Great Summer!!!

...How do you remake a song like Floridays?!?!?!
He reggaed it up. The original is still my favorite song ever, but I'm just hoping that by putting it on the Hoot Soundtrack, he'll put it in the setlist. I would love to hear Floridays live!!!

Floridays has always been one of my favorites in the entire Buffett catalogue, and in my opinion one of his greatest hidden treasures, despite it being a title track. The original version is so atmospheric and that attribute combined with the lyrics (which gives me visions on the some of the greater places in the Sunshine State) gives me chills every time, and although I have yet to hear the reggae version, I’m sure it’s really neat and enjoyable but I also can imagine that it looses the atmosphere that was responsible for the magic in the original recording from 1986.
I'm always sure to have Buffett playing period when I hit the Florida border. Shortly thereafter it changes to Skynyrd as I approach Raiford prison ("Four Walls of Raiford") and Callahan, hometown of Skynyrd guitarist Allen Collins.

It would be interesting to have a post where we talk about what songs we associate with our favorite destination spots.
I'm back to livin' Floridays

That's really the only tradition I have like that. It's just such a relief to finally hit the Florida border after such a longass drive from NC. Even then I usually have a couple of more hours to go before reaching my destination but still, it's a great stress reliever. Last year we had a conjure on board which squawked nearly the entire trip. When she did it when the Buffett came on it suddenly turned humorous. Hell, it was either that or "accidently" putting one of the windows down...
