Class is expensive and most easily sold to the highest bidder...character is dirt cheap......unless you don't have it....and you can't buy it at any price.moeron wrote:Class, character. They both sound expensive. How can we afford both?
Well I’m a tidal pool explorer

I believe that down on the beach
Where the seagulls preach
Is where the Chinese buried the truth...

Well, one month after I posted this message and not quite a week after the Thursday Irvine show and I have to admit...Jimmy did change my mind!MikeInNOLA wrote:You should have seen the look of shock on my wife's face when I gave her the "Irvine could be my last Buffett concert" speech a couple of months ago.![]()
Yes - I can afford $120+ tickets...but, do I want too?![]()
Yes - I love the experience and the friends I have made along the way...but, I know where to find most of you!![]()
More tickets for you?I have never missed a show because I couldn't get a ticket! I have seen Jimmy on all three coasts, from the lawn, and from so close my drinks were setting on the stage. Where there is a will, there is usually a way to get there!
For me, it seems to be more a matter of diminishing returns on my investment. Perhaps I am just weary of a setlist in which 80% of the songs have been there for a couple of decades (or more)? You can only add "missing lyrics", re-mix, and add a reggae beat so many times. To me, the concert itself always seems to be the anti-climatic ending to the whole pre-party, tailgating, concert experience.
I too have the "daughter off to college" expenses on the summer horizon. But, I really think I want to experience more of the regional Parrothead events in lieu of concerts.
However, perhaps Jimmy can change my mind in Irvine~!![]()
Perhaps it was the "featured album" additions...perhaps it was the great performance by Jimmy and the band (w/Jake!). Sure, I groaned and sat in my seat for WDWGDAS...but, overall it was a great show!
If Jimmy keeps playing, I guess I will be there next time around!

Let's go
The cost of these shows (for most people) is an issue.
I simply look at the price and work toward the goal. Like anything else in life, if you really want it, you will pursue it.
The experience of not only the show but the pre-concert gatherings is what keeps me going. So I simply say, "let's go!!"
