I've never lived alone. Went straight from parents to college and grad school where I lived with roommates, to hubby (who was still fiance when we moved in together.)

Tried the roommate thing for a year, it sucked. Lived alone for a year, enjoyed it. Girlfriend moved in, then we got married. Couple years later, separated, so I spent the last year living alone, now we're together again, so I'm again adjusting to living with somebody.

That's ok. We've lived in our place for 2 years and not all of them, um, well, you know.
Kids rooms won't ever be, 'cause that's just icky.

I think you may have taken the blushing in the wrong context...

The Hello Kitty comforter and Finding Nemo toddler bed just don't keep me in the mood.

Back to the topic..........
Lived at home, then lived with a roommate, then got married, and have lived alone since the divorce, some 20 years ago.
Takes some adjustment, but what doesn't! Living alone now is just fine, and, while I would love to be in the position of living with someone again, or getting married again, I also now recognize that there is much that I would give up to do so.
Living alone doesn't bother me now at all, with a few rare exceptions. I did find living alone a strain right after 9/11 though my other friends that live alone and I spent a lot of time on the phone. Just not a time when being alone was a good thing!

After having too many psycho roommates that I wanted to kill I decided it best to live alone.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.
