I know that feeling. Transitioning to living together has been easier than I thought it would be, but still not at all easy.ejr wrote:Takes some adjustment, but what doesn't! Yes ... for at least the last 10 years and probably another 8 years a bit before that ... (went back home at age 29, head down .. begging for free lodgings as no money
).
I like it ..... I could not do the "room mate" thing again .. been there, done that, got the tshirt ....
I dont mind my own company, and when I want, BN people are usually always hanging around to yap with!!

here too. Much better way of getting that feeling of independence than spending the whole while living around the corner from the folks.bumper wrote:yep...500 miles..for 3 yearsRinglingRingling wrote:and the followup question: If you hae lived alone, have you lived at least an hour away from family?bumper wrote:Heavens YES...how else do you establish your identity??

Mine are 40 minutes away ... I have always had a rule that there had to be at least two suburbs between me and the nearest relativeRinglingRingling wrote:here too. Have had several live alone periods and they were most instructional! I had time to find out and indulge my selfish passions without inconveniencing anyone else. I agree with Mel and Mal on the clothing (less is more) tip, plus no one to ask for different music or tell me that I could not pile books everywhere I needed them to be.
Though I live partnered now and am delighted to do so, we make alone time for ourselves for the preservation of sanity and for the pursuit of our own growth.
