Indeed I am. It's been quite a recovery for me and my family, and we're still on our journey. Would love to talk about it sometime.

Over several cold corona's! OK, maybe several 12 packs! Anyway, lots of good discussion boards for that topic too! I wish I could remeber the name of the one I used to post on... Then I found Buffett News! It was an instant cure!

Best of luck. I (we) were about ready to join the "temple club" when I found out what was really going on! :o I feel like an idiot for falling for it. Oh, well, moving on now...

My Margaritaville is in St. Augustine at a couple of spots off of the beaten path.
Of course it's also in my backyard hammock

I remembered...try

View from the Foyer, Folk of the Fringe or Recovery from Mormonism. My favorite was New Order Mormons. Good people. Very informative and friendly. (Kinda like Buffett News!)

Welcome MrTwain, it's always good to hear about someone who has taken control of their destiny and is living life on their own terms. As we break free from the frigid shackles of winter up here in Indiana, I'm looking forward to a trip to FL at the end of the month, and then to lounging by the pool for a couple hours every day before work. I view my job in less favorable terms than you view yours, however although it could be better, it could certainly be worse. It is a means to an end, as it allows for trips to places where I may continue the search for my own personal Margaritaville. I haven't found it yet, but I am definitely enjoying the search 8) When I do get there, I'll be sure to send everybody a postcard...until then MrTwain, steady as she goes :pirate:

To be honest with you, I've never tried any of those monstrosities, deep fried Twinkies, Snickers, Reese Cups...I guess I'm a little more traditional. When I go to the fair, after the Italian sausage, pork burgers, corn on the cob, and lamb kabob, I'm lucky if I can still walk straight. If I feel the need for dessert, it's always a funnel cake with REAL strawberry topping. Not that creepy blob-like glaze a lot of stands use. There's always one stand on the midway that has the real stuff. It's usually the one with the longest line :D The only deep fried food I usually indulge in at the fair is at the Wisconsin Cheese wagon. There's enough breading on those puppies to choke the Worlds Largest Boar down at the Swine building

Aruba for me, been there twice so far. Can't get enough. Perfect weather all the time, and plenty of sand and warm water to calm the nerves. Also been to Antigua, nice but too humid.

That would probably melt in Indiana.

Yeah, the state fair is one of the scariest feeding troughs around...and one look at the crowd tells the story. :o :-? (Heck, I've never even tried the deep fried cheese curds....)

And...um no, that's not my Margaritaville. Oops, thread hijack.

The perfect Margaritaville

Post by PirateJohn »

As the saying goes, Margaritaville is wherever you want it to be. Although it must be warm and sandy, IMHO 8)

Seriously, you show me Paradise, and I'll show you a place that is great to return to every so often but for many of us with wanderlust in our blood we have to get out and look and look and look some more just to see if there is another Paradise out there. Or another Margaritaville.

Key West is a lot of fun and I love that place dearly. St. Augustine and Crescent Beach and those areas through there ain't bad at all. But I am so looking forward to trying to find The Perfect Beach soon. And The Perfect Beach is going to be like el Dorado -- illusive to no end -- but somehow I suspect that it's there along the Gulf Coast of southern Texas or in Mexico, or around Baja somewhere.

Anyone have an address for the Twelve Volt Man?

So far, New London, Connecticut. I spent my childhood summers there with my grandparents. Grandpa taught me how to sail, and just about ever important lesson that I have ever learned over those summers. He "sailed on" last Labor Day, so now I get the opportunity to pass along the same lessons to his two great-grandaughters (one of which he got to meet), on the same beach, same tides, and in the same house... A day there does more for me than anywhere else. I guess you could say that it isn't only my Margaritaville, but also my OPH.

Hey, that's me too. . . we should start our own church of the like minded. Coronas and limes as sacrament. . . maybe even some Tequila shooters (Patron anyone) with a toast and a nod to the Gods!!!

Great pictures of Maui, one of my favorite places, and certainly a Margaritaville place for sure. For me Margaritaville is my back porch, but lately I find it many places, anywhere where peace and happiness abound. Last year I lost my wife and suffered through Katrina, so I have learned to really appreciate Margaritaville. My plans are to go there as often as possible, just about my favorite thrill.
