Should Moussaoui get death penalty?

I'm usually a fan of the death penalty (why do we need to pay for them to sit in jail?) However, I'm pretty sure that's what this %$$%#^% wants, so he can be deemed a savior of his religion. So on this one I'm gonna have to say let him rot.

"No, because that would be giving him what he wants"
I agree

but it would also give me what i want, one less a$$hole that we have to pay to keep in jail the rest of his life.

From what I've read it costs more if a convict gets the death penalty. 20 years of appeals, etc. I feel that if someone is given the death penalty he should be fried in 30 days, no longer.

As for this Al-jerk, death would give him martyr status, I'd have to pass on death for this one. Let him rot.

I also had to go with "Door Number 3" on this one.

But how will the judge and jury see it? It will be interesting to see if they "let the punishment fit the crime", or decide to take a step back and let other considerations come into play.

After all, this guy wouldn't be the first inmate to apparently be "getting what he wants" with a death sentence, and the fact that the convicted "wants" death hasn't prevented the state apparatus from giving it to him/her. Isn't that what Timothy McVeigh wanted?

It does raise the interesting question - Do you give someone a justly deserved punishment, even if for some perverse reason it is exactly what they want?

In spite of all that, I think they should put him away for the rest of his natural life - plotting mass murder deserves at least that.

Cheers.

Why wait that long? If it were up to me, there'd be a room in every courthouse with a drain in the floor, for just such an occasion.

he wants to die a martyr and putting him to death will be EXACTLY what he wants.

let him rot in jail and pray to his God for his sins everyday.

I said no because that's what he wants, but I have a feeling he wouldn't last too long in prison without someone killing him. So let him rot in jail until someone takes him out as far as i'm concerned.

many mid-east courts are like that....drain in the floor, only expense is 1 bullet.

and Melissa beat me to it....he'd have to be in solitary confinement, because he'd be ripped to shreds in prison.

I said no to the death penalty. Put him in GenPop and let the prison population deal with him as they dealt with Dahmer and Geoghan.

Yes, and the sooner the better, just like anyone else who gets the death penalty.

Anybody ever wonder if he's trying the reverse-psychology thing to NOT get the death penalty?
