Queensryche finally came out with it's long-awaited sequel to "Operation Mindcrime" !
I just picked it up, and it is amazing. Creative drum rhythms, great chord progressions, and from what I've picked up so far from the storyline, it's a very interesting follow-up to the original. Part of the story is even told from the perspective of Dr. X.
By the way, this will be the #1 album in the country next week. Best Buy sold their entire stock in one day. I had trouble tracking one down.

Wow! I've got about 4 Queensryche albums and used to love them! Still like 'em, just don't listen very often anymore.. I had no idea there was even going to be a sequel!! I might just have to pick it up! Thanks!

Good luck finding one today, though....like I said, they are selling faster than anyone thought, and everyone seems to be sold out.

He awoke from a dream.
"Where am I?"
With his mind like a blank sheet of paper, he sat for hours staring at the television.
Maybe something would click.
A random news clip announces the successes of Xcide Pharmaceuticals.
CLICK!
He remembered the killing. Oh, all the killing.
With no faith in humanity, no trust in society and the system, innocence is lost.
Is there meaning for such a worthless life?
The doctor, called X, said, "I will give you a mission! I will make you somebody!
I will show you a way into the INNER CIRCLE!"
But only morality would make him somebody.
Only morality would save him.
The church offered the prostitute Mary a way in with the promise of safety, love, and foregiveness.
It was a lie.
Like a life on the street, abuse by others happens here, too.
And like a flood-it began.
All the memories.
"Kill the Priest!"
It was done but the satisfaction faded.
Need more, something more.
REVENGE!
And the hunt began-to save his soul.
Revenge is an endless cycle of action and reaction with another.
To some, a worthy goal, but once attained, how would you feel?
What then?
Would you have peace?
He and Mary had it all-but couldn't see it.
True love for another is everything.
The fallout is addiction.
Numb the pain.
Immersed in violence. A worthless life?
Numb the pain and sleep forever...?
Listen.

Ha ha! "albums"!! I have all their albums too and have not yet upgraded them to CDs. I should though. Queensryche was one of my favorite bands growing up.

I have to say that I had no trouble finding the cd this week. I don't think there are too many 'Ryche fans left in New England. Upon first listen, I also have to say that I'm disappointed by it. I haven't been thrilled with any of their releases since Promised Land (coincidentally the last cd that featured Chris DeGarmo). I'm hoping this one grows on me cause I'm a ridiculous fan of OMC. Still one of favorite all-time bands and one of the most underrated, for sure.

The word "album" isn't confined to vinyl, it can also be used to describe CDs. Just sayin'....

QUEENSRŸCHE Shopping 'Operation: Mindcrime' Screenplay To Hollywood Studios - Apr. 7, 2006
MTV.com is reporting that QUEENSRŸCHE's 1988 conceptual masterpiece, "Operation: Mindcrime", will be getting the big-screen treatment, according to frontman Geoff Tate. He said the band has hired a screenwriter to adapt the LP into a feature film, and that they're in the midst of shopping it to Hollywood studios. "I worked over the last year and a half with a Hollywood screenwriter named Mark Shepherd," Tate said. "He developed a screenplay out of the story. It's incredible; I hope that it can be made into a movie soon. Our agency is shopping it around Hollywood. I think it's going to be an incredibly powerful film. It starts with one part, and then we have plans for a sequel as well." The band's latest disc, "Operation: Mindcrime II", hit stores this week.
